Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), having emerged winner under the TBCB framework, has acquired project SPV “Satara Power Transmission Ltd” from bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd.
The formal acquisition was completed on October 6, 2026, and the said project SPV will now be a wholly-owned subsidiary of AESL. “Satara Power Transmission Ltd” was incorporated on July 10, 2026, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFCCL, essentially to house an ISTS scheme formally termed as “Network expansion scheme in Western Region to cater to pumped storage potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) – Part A.
As exclusively reported by tndindia.com on August 12, 2026, AESL had come very close to clinching the Satara scheme having emerged L1 bidder at the end of the e-reverse auction (e-RA) routine. AESL subsequently made an official announcement of winning the scheme. (Read tndindia.com story dated August 26, 2026).
AESL won the project quoting the wining tariff of Rs.6175.05 million per year, getting the better of four other bidders – PGCIL, Resonia, EnerGrid and Ceigall India – that had qualified for opening of initial price bids. Details of those that made it to the e-RA stage, alongside AESL, are yet unavailable.
Project objective & details
The Satara Power Transmission Ltd (SPTL) project has been planned to facilitate an additional 765kV interregional corridor between SR and WR Grids [Narendra – Kolhapur – Satara – Pune-III / Pune (East)] and will enable further additional evacuation of RE power in Karnataka towards load centers and pumped storage projects in Satara, Pune and Mumbai Metropolitan Region areas of Maharashtra, AESL said in a stock exchange filing.
The project includes establishment of a 765/400kV substation at Satara, the 765kV double-circuit Kolhapur-Satara transmission line, and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.
The SPTL scheme will also entail bay extension works at PGCIL’s existing substations – Kolhapur in Maharashtra and Narendra (New) in Karnataka. Bay extension works will also be carried out at the upcoming 765/400kV Pune (East) substation being developed by PGCIL under its intrastate-TBCB subsidiary “Powergrid West Maharashtra Transmission Ltd,” earlier known as “NES Pune East New Transmission Ltd,” in Maharashtra.
Second ISTS-TBCB scheme
For AESL, according to information available with tndindia.com, the newly-acquired Satara scheme will be the Adani Group entity’s second ISTS-TBCB win in FY27, following the acquisition of “Vizag Power Transmission Ltd” on August 14, 2026.
