Apar Industries: Cables & Conductors business gets exports boost

The cables & conductor business of Apar Industries Ltd did remarkably well on the exports front, during FY23.

According to a recent investor presentation by Apar Industries Ltd, discussing the company’s performance in Q4 of FY23 and the full year FY23, the company did very well with respect to its cables & conductors business.

 

The company operates across four major divisions – conductors, cables, specialty oils and lubricants.

 

Conductors

Revenue earned by the conductors business in FY23 clocked a 67 percent year-on-year growth, reaching Rs.7,013 crore. This was backed by a surge in exports in FY23. Exports more than doubled in FY23 over those in FY22 and contributed to over half of the revenue of the conductor business in FY23.

The share of “premium” products in the conductor business touched 44 percent in FY23. Premium products include HEC (high-efficiency conductor), copper conductor, optical ground wire (OPGW), and ACCC (aluminum conductor composite core) conductors that are manufactured in collaboration with US-based CTC Global.

The investor presentation also observed that the new order inflow in the conductor business during FY23 was Rs.7,779 crore in FY23, up 44 percent over that in FY22. Also, the business’ order book position, as of March 31, 2023, stood at Rs.5,124 crore.

The conductor business had a higher contribution of 46.6 percent to the total revenues of FY23, as against 42.8 percent in FY22. The company’s total revenues stood at around Rs.14352 crore in FY23.

Cables

The cables business of Apar Industries did exceedingly well with respect to exports. In FY23, exports grew more than three times over those in FY22 and the contribution of exports in the company’s total cable business revenue shot up to 51.7 percent in FY23 from 29.2 percent in FY22. The cables business also made a higher contribution of 21.7 percent in the company’s total revenue in FY23, as against 20.3 percent in FY22.

In particular, revenue from elastomeric cables was up 41 percent year-on-year in FY23, following increased business in renewable energy installations, railways and defense, the presentation said.

The cables business earned a total revenue of Rs.3,263 crore during FY23 and the outstanding order book as of end-FY23 was Rs.1,221 crore.
