BluPine Energy launches skill development centers for utility scale RE projects

BluPine Energy has opened five state-of-the-art skill development centres dedicated to training 120 students on the installation and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects in India.

In a release, BluPine Energy said that Probe Research and Social Development, an agency specialized in skill development activities, has been retained by BluPine Energy for the initiatives.

Skill development activities will be conducted in three villages (Porana, Bhadiya, Nenava) of Patan and Banas Kantha district for solar power generation and in two villages (Rampara, Kanakiya) in the Gir Somnath district of Gujarat for wind power generation.

These initiatives aim to empower beneficiaries, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. As part of this unique program, BluPine Energy is targeting significant female representation among candidates, reinforcing its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the renewable energy sector.

The six-month training program is meticulously designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required in utility-scale solar and wind power installation and operation.

Bridging the skill gap

Sumit Barat, Chief Sustainability Officer of BluPine Energy, stated, “We are witnessing a massive growth spurt in the utility-scale renewable energy sector in India. Last year, over 12 GW of renewable energy capacity were bid out, and the industry anticipates at least 200 GW of additional renewable energy projects to be added to the grid by 2030. Each GW of renewable energy project requires at least a 1,000+ strong workforce to operate and a 2,500+ workforce during construction. Considering this rapid pace of growth in the industry, we expect the demand and supply gap for workers to keep increasing in the coming years. This is our small contribution towards bridging the gap of skilled workforce in utility-scale projects with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Significant milestone

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, said, “These skill development centres are a significant milestone for BluPine Energy in our journey towards a sustainable future. We are not only investing in renewable energy but also in the stakeholders who will drive this industry forward. Our commitment to include significant women participants in these programs underscores our dedication to gender equality and social empowerment. We believe that by nurturing local talent and providing them with the necessary skills and opportunities, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient and self-sufficient community.”
