GE Power lands Rs.818-crore order for hydro-turbines

GE Power India has been awarded a contract worth around Rs.818.3 crore from Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd to design, engineer, manufacture, supply, erect, test and commission 12 units of 80-mw capacity vertical full Kaplan turbine generator units along with all associated auxiliary and ancillary equipment. GE Power India, formerly Alstom India Ltd, announced this in a stock exchange filing.

Details on the hydropower project in which these turbines would be deployed were not available immediately.

A CARE Rating report dated October 2017 observed that NECL had outstanding order book of Rs.21,769 crore as on October 10, 2017 as against Rs.19,302 crore as on July 31, 2016. The order book was spread across varied segments with highest order in hand from irrigation works followed by defence works, power plants, road & bridges and pilling works.

NECL was also L1 bidder for a special infrastructure project of Defence Ministry for a contract value of about Rs.4,100 crore and hydro power projects of around Rs.3,250 crore and further the company has also prequalified for other projects of around Rs.4000 crore. NECL has a geographically diversified order book with major orders in hand from Telangana followed by Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.
