GE Vernova T&D India Ltd has announced the winning of a major contract from an Adani Group entity relating to the newly-acquired KPS III HVDC project.
In a regulatory filing, GE Vernova T&D India said that AESL Projects Ltd has awarded a contract for design and establishment of 2,500 MW, ±500kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) VSC terminal station (2×1250 MW) for evacuation of renewable power from KPS-3 (Khavda) to South Olpad.
The order, of unspecified value, will be executed over multiple years, the filing said.
KPS III HVDC
It may be recalled that Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) on December 13, 2025, formally acquired its second interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme involving HVDC technology, under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
The scheme is formally referred to as “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from potential renewable energy zone in Khavda area of Gujarat under Phase-V (8GW): Part C” and is estimated to cost around Rs.12,000 crore as per estimates made by National Committee on Transmission (NCT) at the time of approving the project.
AESL completed the formal acquisition of the project special purpose vehicle “KPS III HVDC Transmission Ltd” from bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) on December 12, 2025. This project SPV was originally incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFCCL, in January 2024.
AESL Projects Ltd
The entity awarding this contract is AESL Projects Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), an Adani Group entity. Though no official communication on the matter is available, it is believed that though the implementing agency of the KPS III HVDC scheme is “KPS III HVDC Transmission Ltd,” a wholly-owned subsidiary of AESL, the rights and obligations of the contract will be held by AESL Projects Ltd.
It may be recalled that for AESL’s first HVDC project under TBCB – Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Ltd – a novation agreement was signed for the contract awarded to a consortium of Hitachi Energy India Ltd and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Read full tndindia.com story dated November 16, 2025)
