Jyoti Structures Ltd (JSL) has received notifications of award from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for two packages under the ±800kV HVDC Bipole Barmer-II and South Kalamb transmission lines project in Rajasthan.
The combined order value is Rs.949.35 crore, excluding GST, JSL said in a release.
Two packages
The awards cover Lot 1 under package TL01, valued at Rs.474.85 crore, and Lot 2 under package TL02, valued at Rs.474.50 crore. The scope includes the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of ±800kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines on total turnkey basis. Both packages carry a completion period of 38 months from the date of the respective notifications of award.
Delivery as planned
Commenting on the development, Amit Dutta, COO, Jyoti Structures Limited, said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to India’s transmission infrastructure through projects of this scale. Our experience in the sector guides our approach to infrastructure project delivery. We look forward to working closely with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to deliver these projects as planned.”
HVDC technology
High-voltage direct current technology enables the transmission of large volumes of electricity over long distances and plays an important role in strengthening power transmission networks. Executing such projects requires specialised engineering, detailed planning and coordination across multiple stages of delivery.
Recent wins
The Power Grid awards follow JSL’s recent Rs.689.93-crore order from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO) for the 765kV DC Pachchham–Saykha transmission line project in Gujarat. JSL is also undertaking a 220kV double-circuit transmission line project in Sri Lanka in partnership with Hayleys Fentons Limited to support the evacuation of wind power to the country’s national grid.
Barmer HVDC scheme
PGCIL formally acquired the project SPV of the Barmer HVDC scheme on September 23, 2026, after having emerged winner under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. (Read tndindia.com story dated September 24, 2026 for more details.)
