Kalpataru wins overseas power transmission orders

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, announced the winning of overseas power transmission orders valued at Rs.913 crore.

The Mumbai-headquartered company said that these orders relate to design, supply and construction of 500kV and 225/90kV lines in Thailand and Africa.

It may be recalled that in August 2017, KPTL had announced the winning of orders worth Rs.318 crore in the field of railway electrification, signalling and telecommunication. These orders are being executed in partnership with STS.

As of March 31, 2017, KPTL had an outstanding order book position of Rs.7,200 crore  in the power transmission space. Of these Rs.4,680 crore (or 65 per cent) were for overseas orders  while the remaining Rs.2,520 crore (or 35 per cent) was accounted for by domestic orders.

A very large proportion (nearly 70 per cent) of Kalpataru’s overseas order book position, as of March 31, 2017, related to orders in Africa. Its outstanding order book of Rs.2,520 crore of domestic orders had a 55 per cent share by Central transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India. Orders from private companies followed with a share of 39 per  cent while state power utilities accounted for the remaining minority share of 6 per cent.
