KEC International Ltd has made a direct entry in the American T&D EPC market by winning its first order in Nicaragua. This order was part of a series of domestic and international orders worth Rs.1,357 crore that KEC announced in a media release on July 10.

Commenting on the achievement, Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, KEC International, said, “With the order win in Nicaragua, KEC marks its direct entry into the American T&D EPC market, apart from its current presence in Brazil through SAE Towers, its wholly-owned subsidiary.”

KEC has also won orders for various 400kV transmission lines in Dubai on which Kejriwal noted, “We have consolidated our leadership position in the Middle East market by re-entering Dubai.”

The orders reported included turnkey orders worth Rs.1,234 crore, in the power T&D sector spread over India, Middle East, Africa, SAARC countries and the Americas. The cables business also received orders valued at Rs.123 crore.

Domestic orders in the power T&D space included a 400kV GIS substation for Power Grid Corporation of India, in northeast India, and a 765kV transmission line in north India for a transmission project won by a private developer under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
