Larsen & Toubro has won an order to build what is believed to be India’s biggest pumped storage project, coming up in Maharashtra.
In a release, L&T said that its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical has secured an order from Torrent Energy Storage Solutions Pvt Ltd (earlier known as Torrent PSH 3 Pvt Ltd) for the construction of India’s biggest pumped storage project (PSP).
The PSP called Saidongar-1 Pumped Storage Project (PSP) is taking shape in Raigad, Maharashtra, and will be equipped with ten units of 300-MW each, aggregating 3,000 MW.
The scope of the contract includes design, engineering and execution of all civil and hydro-mechanical jobs associated with the project. With this order, L&T will play a pivotal role in bringing to life a project of immense significance – expected to enhance grid reliability and energy security for Maharashtra and beyond, the release said.
Though L&T did not specify the exact contract value, it is understood to be between Rs.2,500 crore to Rs.5,000 crore.
