State transco Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has commissioned a new transformer at the 220kV Shujalpur substation.
In a release, MPPTCL said that the new 200 MVA transformer commissioned at Shujalpur will enhance the reliability and quality of electricity supply in the region.
The new transformer has taken MPPTCL’s total transformation capacity to nearly 85,000 MVA (85 GVA).
The state transco currently has 1,051 transformers that include 40 of 400kV, 220 transformers of 220kV and 791 operating at 132kV. The total transformation capacity today stands at 84,993 MVA, spread across 417 substations. These include 14 of 400kV, 88 of 220kV and 315 of 132kV. MPPTCL’s total transmission line network currently stands at 43,079 ckm, the release said.
MP Transco currently has a total transformation capacity of 84,933 MVA. The company’s transmission network comprises 1,051 Extra High Voltage (EHV) transformers, including 40 transformers at 400 kV, 220 transformers at 220 kV, and 791 transformers at 132 kV.
In addition, the company operates 43,079 circuit kilometers of Extra High Voltage transmission lines across the state. A total of 417 substations are currently in operation, comprising 14 substations at 400 kV, 88 substations at 220 kV, and 315 substations at 132 kV.
Field training programme
In an independent development, MPPTCL recently organized a special field training programme for trainee junior engineers. Such engineers, from various field offices, were taken to the EHV transmission line shifting work site on the Gaurjhamar–Deori (Sagar) transmission line for hands-on field training. Despite the scorching temperature of nearly 45°C, the transmission line shifting work is being carried out through the Emergency Restoration System (ERS) Tower due to the construction of an over-bridge on the National Highway. During the training, the trainee engineers were given detailed information about the working mechanism, utility, and importance of ERS Towers in emergency situations, a release by MPPTCL said.
