Despite continuous heavy rainfall and challenging weather conditions across Madhya Pradesh during August, state transco Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL or MP Transco) has achieved a remarkable milestone in transmission network expansion by commissioning six new transmission lines aggregating over 135 ckm.
In a release, MPPTCL said that it successfully completed new construction and second-circuit works of six 132kV transmission lines with a total length of 135.90 ckm. This includes an important transmission line developed for railway traction purposes.
According to Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, the state government is continuously working to make the power transmission system stronger, more reliable and more capable. He stated that despite difficult geographical conditions and persistent rainfall, the engineers and employees of MPPTCL demonstrated dedication and technical excellence to accomplish this achievement.
The minister added that completion of these projects will enhance the reliability of power supply in various regions of the state and help meet the growing electricity demand in the future.
The release noted that MPPTCL completed the second-circuit works of the following 132kV lines:
- DCSS (double circuit, single string) Alot-Tal transmission line (19.56 ckm)
- Ganj Basoda-Saharwasa line (28.92 ckm)
- Kymore-Barhi line (32.40 ckm)
- Bilkisganj–Mugalia Chhap line (17.27 ckm)
- Ratangarh-Singoli line (21.85 ckm)
New line: Construction of the 15.90-ckm long 132kV Double Phase Double Wire Railway Traction Line from 132kV Sanawad substation to railway traction substation (RTS) Nimarkhedi had remained incomplete for a long period due to serious construction challenges. With substantial support from the local administration, the state transco successfully completed this important railway line project even during the peak monsoon season.
Completion of all these projects will enhance transmission capacity across various regions of Madhya Pradesh and further strengthen the reliability and operational efficiency of the state’s power system, the release added.
