Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has announced that it has emerged as the successful bidder for an interstate transmission scheme spread over eastern and northeastern India, awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism.

In a brief stock exchange filing, PGCIL said that the letter of intent, dated August 30, 2022, has been issued to PGCIL in connection with the transmission scheme officially termed as “System Strengthening Scheme for Eastern and North Eastern Regions.”

The project spread over Bihar, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh broadly involves upgrade of 132kV substations to 220kV, setting up of 220kV double-circuit transmission lines, bay extension works, etc.

Though the PGCIL stock exchange filing did not provided no other details, it is reliably learnt that the project SPV that houses the said transmission project is “ER NER Transmission Ltd.”.

The project SPV was incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) on October 6, 2021. RECPDCL will transfer 100 per equity of ER NER Transmission Ltd to the successful bidder, which, in this case, is PGCIL.
