Polycab India Ltd has announced the launch of its hybrid inverter and battery pack at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026 in Greater Noida.
The launch marks a further step in the company’s solar business journey, as it continues to expand its offerings in response to the evolving needs of India’s renewable energy landscape, a release by Polycab India said.
Expansion of solar portfolio
Polycab entered the solar segment in 2012 with the manufacturing of solar DC cables, followed by the introduction of solar on-grid inverters in 2016. Since then, the company has expanded its portfolio to include solar inverters, cables and balance-of-system products, catering to diverse project requirements. Its India-manufactured solar grid-tie inverters span capacities from 2kW to 350kW, serving residential, commercial and industrial applications as well as utility-scale projects. To date, Polycab has supplied 6 GW of inverter capacity, covering over 11 lakh inverters.
As per Latest MNRE estimates, Polycab inverters contribute to 30 per cent of the total rooftop installations completed under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the company release said.
Future launches
Polycab currently supplies 350kW utility inverters and plans to introduce a 500kW platform next year, strengthening its participation in utility-scale solar opportunities under PM-KUSUM and the emerging 5 GW floating solar opportunity under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY). The company is also preparing for the next phase of renewable energy with advanced grid-forming inverter technology, which can support grid stability and resilience as renewable energy penetration increases. Its Hybrid Inverter and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) portfolio also aligns with the evolving rooftop solar landscape, including the potential next phase of PMSG, referred to as PM Surya Ghar 2.0, with a focus on storage and grid readiness.
Contributing to India’s clean energy ambitions
Commenting on the launch, Anurag Agarwal, CEO – Global Exports & New Businesses, Polycab India Ltd, said, “Having spent a decade building our presence in the solar inverter business, we have seen the sector evolve significantly, with technology and changing energy needs opening up new avenues for growth. As India advances towards its ambition of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, we believe the industry has an important role to play in enabling this transition. At Polycab, we see this as an opportunity to build on our experience, strengthen our capabilities and contribute to the country’s clean energy ambitions through solutions that address the needs of a rapidly evolving market. Our focus on quality, energy efficiency and regulatory compliance is reflected in the completion of BEE registration for our solar inverter portfolio up to 100kW.”
