President lays foundation stone of SJVN’s Bikaner solar project

 

President of India, Ms Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone of SJVN’s 1,000-mw Bikaner solar power project at Jaipur, Rajasthan, on January 3, 2023.

In a release, N. L. Sharma, CMD, SJVN, said that it was a matter of great honor that the foundation stone of SJVN’s largest solar project was laid at the hands of the President of India.

The occasion was graced by Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot.

SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, is implementing the project that is spread over 5,000 acres of land near village Banderwala in Bikaner district. The project site is located in an area that is known to have amongst the highest solar yield of the country.

The project cost is estimated at Rs.5,492 crore. IREDA, from whom the entire debt component has been tied up, is also providing viability gap funding support of Rs.44.72 lakh per mw.  (Learn more)

The project is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2024. After commissioning this project will generate 2454 million kwh (MU) in the first year and around 56,838 MU during the entire 25-year project lifespan.

The project will generate direct and indirect employment to approximately 150-200 and 800-1000 persons respectively. This would also help in stimulating local economy, creating green jobs and overall development of the region.
