In independent developments, Rajesh Power Services Ltd (RPSL) and Bondada Engineering Ltd have announced the winning of battery energy storage system (BESS) mandates, under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework.
Rajesh Power Services won a 65 MW/130 MWh standalone BESS project from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL).
This BESS project, to be set up at Virpore in Gujarat, is part of an overall tender of 2,000 MW/4000 MWh floated by GUVNL under Phase-VII.
The project will be entitled to viability gap funding (VGF) through the Power System Development Fund (PSDF), subject to execution of the battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) and regulatory approvals, RPSL said in a regulatory filing, adding that the project is scheduled to come up in 18 months from the date of BESPA signing.
Bondada Engineering’s mandate was awarded by Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (APTRANSCO). It pertains to a 225 MW/450 MWh BESS to be set up in 18 months from signing of the BESPA.
Bondada expects a total revenue stream of Rs.627 crore from the BESS project, during the entire 25-year concession period. The BESS project will be put up at APTRANSCO’s 400/220kV Hindupur substation in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
This project has taken Bondada’s overall BESS portfolio to around 1 GWh, the company said in a stock exchange communication.
It may be recalled that Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) was also among the winners in APTRANSCO’s BESS tender discussed above. (Read tndindia.com story dated December 31, 2025)
