Vikram Solar has secured a 397.7-MWp module supply order for NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. In a release, Vikram Solar said that its modules will power a significant portion of the massive 1,255-MW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. These bifacial DCR modules will have minimum capacity of 540 Wp and meet ALMM standards. (May 17, 2024)

 

Enfinity Global has signed $135 million in financing for the development and construction of 1.2 GW of solar and wind projects in India. The financing is being provided by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) through subsidiaries of CPPIB Credit Investments Inc.  The projects in this portfolio are spread across five states — Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh — and are in advanced stages of development and. These are expected to be commissioned between 2025 and 2026. Once interconnected, they are projected to generate 2.4 GWh of clean electricity annually. (May 16, 2024)

 

Following its acquisition by Germany-based WIKA Group in 2014, the name of Micro Precision Product Pvt Ltd has been changed to WIKA Process Solutions India Pvt Ltd. The new name is effective April 22, 2024. With the strategic move, the company aims to play a leading role in advancing the Indian measurement instrumentation market, an official release said. Amplus announced the successful commissioning of its 73.4 MWp Project Lakshmi, an intra-state open-access solar plant in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, the company’s third OA plan in the northern state following Project Mirza and Project Deoria. This latest project has taken Amplus’s operational OA capacity in Uttar Pradesh to over 200 MWp. Interconnected at the 132kV Gursarai substation, Project Lakshmi will deliver substantial energy cost savings to Amplus’s clientele across the state, a release by Amplus said. (May 14, 2024)

 

Socomec has joined hands with PIMA Controls Pvt Ltd to further strengthen its presence in the Gujarat market. In a release, Socomec said that by leveraging PIMA Controls’ expertise and local market knowledge, Socomec aims to enhance its ability to deliver cutting-edge technology and expertise in efficient and reliable power solutions, leading to infrastructural development in Gujarat. This partnership will enable PIMA Controls to offer Socomec’s power conversion, power switching, and monitoring products across Gujarat, the release said. (May 13, 2024)

 

NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) and Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Ltd have signed an MoU for development of renewable energy. The MoU envisages the joint development of grid-connected renewable energy park and projects including solar, wind, hybrid etc. and/or solutions thereof up to 10 GW in the state of Maharashtra. Gensol Engineering Ltd has announced that Rajesh Jain has been appointed as a new independent director to the company’s board of directors. Jain is currently the member of the Governance Council and Chairman of the Audit Committee at the Shiv Nadar Foundation. He recently retired as senior partner at Walker Chandiok & Co LLP, a large and well-known Chartered Accountant Firm after serving them for over 20 years. Jain has more than 45 years of professional experience and through his career he has held several senior management positions at various organisations across India, Malawi and Zambia, a release by Gensol said. Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has granted licence to Fatehgarh IV Transmission Ltd, a subsidiary of Apraava Energy, to develop a transmission project costing Rs.11.74 crore on regulated tariff mechanism (RTM) basis. This project, to be commissioned by February 1, 2025, involves development of one set of bus sectionalizer at 220kV level of 400/220kV Fatehgarh-IV Pooling Station (Section-1) in Rajasthan. Fatehgarh IV Transmission Ltd is already developing an ISTS-TBCB scheme officially termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase III-Part A1”. Waaree Energies Ltd has announced the appointment of Amit Paithankar as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In his new role, Paithankar will strive to utilize his experience and leadership to drive the company to grow in the renewable energy sector. Before joining Waaree, Paithankar was associated as managing director South Asia with Emerson Electric Co. (India) Pvt. Ltd., among other roles. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a master of business administration. (May 7, 2024)

 

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN Ltd for a 460-mw Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Project. The plant, designed to meet the 460 MW FDRE requirement, integrates solar, wind, and battery storage technologies to ensure efficient energy dispatch during peak hours, thereby stabilizing the grid. FDRE enables round-the-clock power supply, assisting distribution companies in fulfilling Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligations (ESO). This win marked TPREL’s inaugural success in the FDRE tender, a company release said. (May 4, 2024)

 

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has announced $400-million financing for its under-construction solar projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat, aggregating 750 mw and expected to come online by November 2024, by a consortium of five international banks. It will provide financing for projects that are expected to come online from November 2024 onwards. AGEL currently has an operational portfolio of 10,934 mw capacity consisting of 7,393 mw solar, 1,401 mw wind and 2,140 mw wind-solar hybrid. (May 3, 2024)

 

Vikram Solar has received a letter of intent from Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd to supply 250 mw worth of solar modules. These modules, fall within the Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM), and will in the capacity range of 540 Wp to 570 Wp, Vikram Solar said in a release. These modules will be deployed at the Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat. (May 2, 2024)

 

GE Power India Ltd has announced the winning of two orders collectivity worth Rs.12 crore (exclusive of 18 per cent GST). The first order, placed by NTPC SAIL Power Company Ltd, involves supply of turbine spares. This mandate, valued at around Rs.6 crore, is scheduled for completion in 12 months. The second order, also worth Rs.6 crore and placed by NTPC Ltd, is for inspection of steam turbine at the NTPC Tanda (Stage II) thermal power plant. (May 2, 2024)

 

Gautam Solar has partnered with Redington Ltd for distributing Gautam Solar’s high-efficiency solar modules on pan-India basis. As part of the partnership, Redington will enable the smooth distribution of Gautam Solar’s high-quality solar panels including Mono PERC and N-type TOPCon Panels within the solar ecosystem. Gautam Solar aims to bring its products to a bigger retail base through this strategic venture, as it also works to expand its module capacity with a new manufacturing plant in Haryana. KEC International Ltd has announced the winning of orders worth Rs.1,036 crore across its business verticals – power T&D, railways and cables. The power T&D orders involve setting of overhead transmission lines in UAE and supply of towers, hardware and poles to the Americas. (April 30, 2024)

 

Envision Energy and Hero Future Energies have signed a framework agreement for cooperation across multiple aspects of the renewable energy sector including WTG supply and other technologies including BESS and Green Hydrogen. The framework agreement also includes Envision providing 588 MW (178 units of EN 156-3.3 MW Wind Turbine Generators) that will produce 2,200 GWh units of clean energy annually.  Built with a rotor diameter of 156 m, hub- height of 140m and a rated capacity of 3.3 MW, these WTGs are best suited to perform in the Indian wind regime. Waaree Energies Ltd has received a letter of intent from Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd for a 400-mw module supply deal. The contract entails comprehensive supply of solar PV modules incorporating advanced bifacial technology for the 2,375 MW RE Park near Vill. Khavda, Great Rann of Kutch, Gujarat. Waaree Energies will undertake the manufacturing, testing, packing, and transportation of these solar PV modules, while adhering to the prescribed quality standards and an aim to execute the project in a timely manner. Each module, featuring ALMM category specifications and a capacity ranging from 540 Wp to 570 Wp, is expected to ensure optimal performance, durability, and efficiency, a release from Waaree Energies said. BluPine Energy has announced the successful financial closure for its 120-mw solar project in Sadla, Gujarat, won under the GUVNL-18 auction. BluPine Energy accomplished this milestone by securing the debt financing of Rs.418 crore for its project from HDFC Bank. After completion, the plant is expected to generate about 3.23 lakh MWh of solar energy annually, BluPine Energy said. (April 29, 2024)

 

Schneider Electric has announced the appointment of Anshum Jain as the Vice President of their Global Supply Chain in India today. In his role, Anshum will focus on driving the performance of the Global Supply Chain vertical in the country and building supply chain capabilities in India in a synergistic way. He will be part of a supply chain council that will focus on creating a strong supply chain ecosystem in the country to meet the growth aspirations of both domestic and international markets. Madhav Infra Projects Ltd has announced the winning of an EPC order valued at Rs.329.73 crore from Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd for design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning and three-year O&M of a 75-mw solar power project at Vastan near Surat Lignite Power Project (SLPP) Tal-Mongrol in Surat district of Gujarat. The order is scheduled for completion in 330 days, Madhav Infra said in a stock exchange notification. (April 24, 2024)

 

Sharika Enterprises Ltd has received an order valued at around Rs.2.95 crore from Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Ltd for supply and erection of outdoor equipment, comprising two 145kV bays, at the 400kV Rasara substation in Balia, Uttar Pradesh. This turnkey order is scheduled for completion in six months, Sharika Enterprises said in a stock exchange notification. (April 23, 2024)

 

Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd announced its strategic partnership with Indian Bank to bolster the adoption of solar rooftop among residential consumers. The collaboration aims to facilitate financing solutions under the popular Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana scheme for installations up to 3KW, as well as extend support for installations from 3kW to 10kW under the regular scheme. Under the framework of the scheme, residential consumers can avail loans up to Rs.2 lakh at an annual interest rate of 7 per cent, in compliance with government regulations.  With a nominal margin money requirement of 10 per cent and collateral-free financing, homeowners can embark on their solar journey with ease. Furthermore, the tenure for repayment extends up to 10 years. (April 23, 2024)

 

Orient Electric Ltd, in a stock exchange communication, said that Telangana State Factories Department, Government of Telangana, on April 19, 2024, issued “factory licence” to Orient Electric for its upcoming manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. The manufacturing plant, on which no details are currently available, is yet to start commercial operations. This factory licence is mandatory before commencement of commercial production, Orient Electric said. (April 20, 2024)

 

Inox Wind Ltd has bagged an order for the supply of 210 mw worth of wind turbine generators from Hero Future Energies (HFE). The order is for IWL’s 3-mw WTGs, and the scope comprises of equipment supply with certain add-on services. Additionally, Inox Wind will provide post commissioning multi-year O&M services. The WTGs will be supplied to HFE from Q3FY25 onwards and will be installed in south India. (April 19, 2024)

 

RR Kabel Ltd has announced the rebranding of “Luminous Fans” to “RR Signature Fans”. In April 2022, RR Kabel had acquired the home electrical business of Luminous Power, comprising fans, lighting and appliances. RR Signature Fans, the latest addition to RR Kabel’s portfolio, are up to 60 per cent energy-saving, feature an RF remote, and come equipped with an in-built stabilizer, capable of operating within a voltage range of 100-300V. Avaada Energy has announce the successful closure of its refinancing transaction, securing about Rs.4,471 crore from the state-owned lender, National Bank for Financing Infrastructure & Development (NaBFID). This refinancing transaction, conducted under a Restricted Group (RG) structure, encompasses four ISTS-connected solar projects with a combined capacity of around 1,700 mw in Rajasthan. NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) and Indus Towers LTd (ITL) have signed an MoU with a view to exploring joint development of grid-connected renewable energy-based power projects including solar, wind, energy storage etc. and/or solutions thereof. Indus Towers aims to expand its renewable energy portfolio in a phased manner to gigawatt scale capacity. (April 19, 2024)

 

KEC International, in a stock exchange filing, announced the appointment of Ganesh Srinivasan as President – T&D, KEC International, effective April 18, 2024. Ganesh Srinivasan comes with 25 years of experience and has joined KEC from Tata Power Group where he was leading the business as Chief Executive Officer – Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. Prior to that, he has worked in various leadership capacities with Tata Power, McKinsey & Company and Cummins Inc. He spearheaded strategy, operations, transformation & organizational development in various roles, the KEC filing said.  (April 18, 2024)

 

Avaada Energy has announced the winning of 250 mw solar-wind hybrid power capacity in a recent tender issued by NTPC Ltd. Avaada Energy won this project quoting Rs.3.47 per kwh. The project, which can be set up anywhere in India within 24 months, will be connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) network. Power generated from this project will be sold to NTPC via a 25-year power purchase agreement. (April 18, 2024)

 

Apraava Energy partnered with CII Foundation to honour 15 women change-makers from Assam. These women leaders have uplifted over 1,000 women from disadvantaged communities in the state. Under the ‘Empowering Champions of Change’ initiative led by Apraava Smart Meter Pvt Ltd, an Apraava Energy subsidiary, these women were recognized for their contribution in bringing grassroots-level transformation to society.  Their area of work includes addressing issues pertaining to domestic violence, livelihoods, re-enrollment of school dropouts, adult literacy, etc. This group of women will now receive training to enhance their leadership skills and lead district-level community projects aimed at addressing socio-economic inequalities, aspiring to positively impact over 15,000 women of marginalized communities. Juniper Green Energy has announced the commissioning of its maiden wind power project, contributing 70 mw to Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity. Currently, 25.2 mw is operational as part of the project’s progressive rollout. The project has been commissioned in record time, almost nine months before the project SCOD, a release from Juniper Green Energy said.  This project shall deliver power under a 25-year PPA with GUVNL at a tariff of Rs.2.90 per kwh, and is expected to annually generate 230 million kwh of electricity enough to power around 45,440 households, the release added. Sharika Enterprises Ltd, in a release, said that has it has been empanelled by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) as a system integrator for all networking and communication projects of PGCIL. As system integrator, Sharika Enterprises will contribute to the PGCIL’s ambition to modernize the grid system with cutting edge communication technologies in order to bring more situational awareness and real time actions to manage grid stability, improve efficiency and predictability, the release said. Mahindra Group, in a release, said that it has planned to develop a 150-mw hybrid (solar + wind) renewable energy project in Maharashtra, with a capital outlay of around Rs.1,200 crore. The project that will include 101 mw of wind capacity and 52 mw of solar will be developed by Mahindra Susten, part of Mahindra Group, and is expected to commission within two years. Husk Power Systems has secured additional $4 million in debt financing from ElectriFI. This builds upon ElectriFI’s initial $6 million investment in September 2022. ElectriFI’s continued support reflects Husk’s impressive performance in achieving its initial impact targets, proves the feasibility of their business model and shows experience of leadership to execute its operational targets. Significantly, Husk’s strong performance, made possible in part by ElectriFI’s initial investment, enabled them to secure additional investments in a Series D capital raise of $43 million, a release said.  (April 15, 2024)

 

SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), on April 8, 2024, signed a joint venture cum shareholder agreement with Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) to form a 51:49 joint venture that will set up green energy projects in the command areas of SJVN, SGEL or APDCL, and on pan-India basis. SGEL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central PSU SJVN Ltd. (April 12, 2024)

 

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) announced that it has commissioned a transmission project related to power evacuation from the 2×500-mw New Neyveli Thermal Power Station (NNTPS) of NLC India Ltd at Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. Though the project was commissioned on February 10, 2024, the notification for commercial operation (date of commercial operation) was received on April 10, 2024, PGCIL said in a brief stock exchange notification. Gensol Engineering Ltd, in a release, said that its outstanding order book as at the beginning of FY25 stands at Rs.1,783 crore that will be executed over a period of 12 months. Of this order book, Rs.1,448 crore represents solar EPC orders, inclusive of orders booked by subsidiary company Scorpius Trackers. The remaining Rs.335 crore relates to the electric vehicle leasing business. (April 10, 2024)

 

Hartek Power has reportedly won a Rs.474-crore EPC order from an unnamed independent power producer (IPP) for constructing a 300-mw solar power plant. The ground-mounted solar plant, covering 1,209 acres of land, is coming up in Rajasthan, it is learnt. (April 10, 2024)

 

Juniper Green Energy, in a release, said that it has commissioned its 105-mw Jalkot Solar Power Project in Maharashtra. The project was commissioned almost nine months before the scheduled commissioning date, the company said. The Jalkot Solar Power Project shall deliver power under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with state utility Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (April 10, 2024)

 

NTPC Ltd has targeted to add 5 GW of power generation capacity of 5 GW in FY25, out of which 2 GW will be from renewable energy sources while 2 GW will come from thermal projects. In FY24, NTPC added 3,924 mw of new capacity, bringing its cumulative installed capacity to nearly 76 GW. Presently, NTPC Group has an operational RE capacity of 3.5 GW, with an extensive pipeline exceeding 20 GW. By 2032, NTPC is looking to expand its non-fossil based capacity to 45-50 per cent of the company’s portfolio that will include 60 GW RE of capacity in a total portfolio of 130 GW. Vikram Solar Ltd has announced the appointment of Narayan Lodha as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  Lodha brings with him over 20 years of experience and has been associated with organizations like True North, Indian Energy Exchange, Ravindra Energy and Bhilwara Energy, a release by Vikram Solar said. PFC Consulting Ltd, as the bid process coordinator, incorporated, on April 5, 2024, a wholly-owned subsidiary “Navinal Transmission Ltd” that would act as the project special vehicle for developing an interstate transmission system scheme termed as “Network expansion scheme in Navinal (Mundra) area in Gujarat for drawl of power in the area.” The project SPV would be eventually transferred to the successful bidder selected under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) modality. Jyoti Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, reported the winning of a supply order worth Rs.38.25 crore from Larsen & Toubro Ltd for 29 vertical-turbine pumps and HT motors. The order is scheduled for completion by December 31, 2024, the filing said. (April 5, 2024)

 

KEC International has reported the winning of new orders valued at Rs.816 crore across its various businesses including civil, power T&D and cables. The power T&D-related orders relate to supply of towers to USA. These orders were booked in FY24 and have taken the cumulative order inflow in that year to Rs.18,102 crore, according to a release by KEC International. (April 4, 2024)

 

H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd, in consortium with Stockwell Solar Services Pvt Ltd, has been awarded two contracts together valued at Rs.156 crore by state power utility Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. The orders relate to EPC services of two grid-tied solar power projects of capacity 11.56 mw and 25.10 mw, respectively. The orders are scheduled for completion in 12 months, H.G. Infra Engineering said in a stock exchange filing, adding that the two contracts fall under the Central government’s “KUSUM Scheme – Component C” programme.  (April 3, 2024)

Scorpius Trackers has established itself as a frontrunner in delivering reliable and bankable single-axis trackers, the company said in a release, adding that the company’s client portfolio includes ReNew, Hero Future, Shapoorji, Tata Power, Engie, Sterling Wilson, Azure Power, Kosol Energy and many others. Socomec has announced the appointment of Nida Khanam as the HR Head for Greater India region (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Bhutan & Nepal). At Socomec India, Khanam will be responsible for driving HR functions across commercial and plant operations, as well as spearheading initiatives to enhance employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. Her strategic vision and hands-on approach will further strengthen Socomec India’s position as an employer of choice in the power solutions industry. GE Power India has won two orders, together valued at Rs.32.75 crore (excluding GST), the company said in a stock exchange filing. The first order, worth Rs.24 crore and to be completed in 15 months, is for supply of generator spares and turbine blades for NTPC’s Nabinagar power plant in Bihar. The second order, placed by Hindustan Zinc, is for R&M works of a boiler at Chanderiya in Rajasthan. It is valued at Rs.8.75 crore with scheduled completion time of 12 months. (April 1, 2024)

 

TP Saurya Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, has announced the successful commissioning of a 200-mw solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, for Tata Power Trading Company Ltd, a Tata Power subsidiary. With this, the total renewables capacity of TPREL has reached 9,018 mw (PPA capacity: 7,632 mw) including 4,547 mw projects under various stages of implementation and its operational capacity now is 4,471 mw, which includes 3,444 mw solar and 1,027 mw wind. Waaree Energies Ltd has signed a contract with Sprng Energy Pvt Ltd, a Shell group company, to supply 245 mw of solar PV modules. Accordingly, Waaree Energies will supply 220 mw of “AHNAY Series, Bi-55 545Wp” modules, to be utilized for Sprng’s project in Gujarat. Set up in 2017, Sprng Energy currently has cumulative contracted capacity of over4.8GWp, and operational portfolio of 2.3GWp. (April 1, 2024)

 

Best Power Equipments (BPE) has announced the appointment of Sam Teo as President – ASEAN to be based at BPE’s Regional Headquarter in Singapore. Sam, with a rich 18-year history of leadership roles across the power sector, will lead the effort to expand company’s footprint in the ASEAN market. Before joining BPE, Sam was the Managing Director of Leoch Battery Pte Ltd, where he was in charge of driving business growth and expanding market presence in Asia Pacific, a release by BPE said. Luminous Power Technologies recently inaugurated its solar panel factory in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.  Spread over 10 acres, it is fully automated and equipped with the latest and cutting-edge solar module manufacturing technologies. The plant is equipped with fully robotic automation capabilities to manufacture high-quality modules. Launched with a capacity of 250 mw, the capacity is expandable up to 1 GW. (March 29, 2024)

 

Husk Power Systems has obtained $20 million in debt financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to scale its operations in Nigeria. The investment will fund construction of community solar mini-grids in Nigeria, installation of rooftop solar for commercial & industrial (C&I) customers, expansion of appliance sales to households and small businesses and the scaling of value-added services such as agro-processing and e-mobility. Currently, Husk has more than 20 mini grids operational in Nigeria, and has set a target of having at least 500 mini grids in the country within the next five years. (March 29, 2024)

 

Adani Green Energy Ltd has commissioned a 180-mw solar power plant at Devikot in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The plant has a 25-year PPA with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The plant is equipped with waterless robotic module cleaning systems, enabling water conservation in the barren region of Jaisalmer. With this, AGEL’s operational solar portfolio has increased to 6,243 mw, and the total operational renewable generation capacity to 9,784 mw. (March 27, 2024)

 

NTPC Ltd and NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NREL) have entered into foreign currency loan agreements worth JPY 30 billion each ($200 million or Rs.1,650 crore) with Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC).  While JBIC has provided 60 per cent of the facility amount, the balance has been provided by other commercial banks under JBIC guarantee. The loan proceeds shall be utilized by NTPC for funding part of its capex requirements for FGD retrofitting at its coal-fired power plants. NREL shall use the loan proceeds to finance its capital expenditure for renewable energy projects. (March 27, 2024)

 

H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd has reported the winning of orders valued at around Rs.1,560 crore for EPC and O&M of five grid-connected solar power plants with aggregate capacity of around 367 MW (AC). These orders, to be completed concurrently in 12 months, were placed by Jodhpur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd, Rajasthan, under KUSUM Scheme – Component C (Feeder-level Solarization). These orders will be executed by H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd in association with Stockwell Solar Services Pvt Ltd. (March 23, 2024)

 

Gensol Engineering Ltd, in a stock exchange communication, said that it has received an EPC order from an unnamed power generation utility in Maharashtra for developing a 100 MWAC/135 MWp ground-mounted solar PV project in the state. This Rs.520-crore contract is the company’s largest-ever turnkey contract. Spread over 500 acres of land, the project is scheduled to commission in 450 days, the company said. (March 22, 2024)

 

THDC India Ltd, on March 21, 2024, achieved the “boiler light up” of Unit-1 of its upcoming 2×660-mw Khurja supercritical thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) from South Eastern Railway for “Design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning for upgradation of electric traction system from 1x25kV to 2x25kV traction system for Rajkharsawan-Nayagarh-Bolani section of Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway to meet 3,000 MT loading target.” The contract, valued at around Rs.167.28 crore, is scheduled for completion in 18 months, RVNL said in a stock exchange filing. Inox Green Energy Services Ltd (IGESL) announced that its subsidiary I-Fox Windtechnik India Pvt Ltd has won an order from NLC India Ltd for the restoration of 33 wind turbine generators (each 1.5 MW) of NLCIL’s wind power plant located in Tenkasi District in the state of Tamil Nadu. The scope of the contract comprises supplies of materials/spares and other activities for the restoration of the 33 WTGs within a period of 8 months, with a revenue realisation of about Rs.39.5 crore (inclusive of taxes) during the contract period. Servotech Power Systems Ltd has secured a contract from Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). This contract involves Servotech supplying, commissioning, and constructing 20 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the Nashik Municipal Corporation area. Servotech will oversee the installation, supply, commissioning, construction and maintenance of EV charging stations, catering to various vehicles and substantially improving Nashik’s EV charging network, the company said. SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN Ltd, has received the letter of intent from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for developing a 500-mw solar project in the GUVNL Phase –XXI auction. SGEL had bagged the project (100 mw + 400 mw green shoe) through a competitive bidding process at a tariff of Rs.2.54 per kwh. Estimated to cost Rs.2,700 crore, this project will come up at the Khavda solar park of Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (March 14, 2024)

 

JSW Neo Energy Ltd has received the letter of award for ISTS-connected solar capacity of 700 mw from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), against tariff-based competitive bid invited for setting up of 1,500 mw ISTS-connected solar power projects. with this awarded capacity of 700 mw under SECI Tranche XIII, the company’s total locked-in generation capacity increases to 11.7 GW, of which 2.1 GW will be solar, JSW Energy, the holding company of JSW Neo Energy Ltd, said in a stock exchange filing. BluPine Energy has announced the successful financial closure for its 198-mw wind project in Gujarat, secured under the GUVNL wind 3 tender. BluPine Energy secured green loan financing for its project through Standard Chartered Bank and Tata Capital.  The total debt sanctioned for this project is Rs.1,260 crore .After completion, the plant is expected to generate about 65 Gwh of wind energy annually. Recyclekaro is planning to introduce India’s first Plasma Furnace Technology Unit for the extraction of high-value metals. Plasma Furnace Technology leverages high-temperature plasma arcs to efficiently extract valuable metals from diverse waste streams. Unlike conventional methods that may pose environmental risks, this technology offers a cleaner, more sustainable approach to metal extraction, a release from Recyclekaro said. Founded in Bihar in 2008, Husk Power Systems has announced the opening of its second office in the state capital Patna to accommodate the company’s rapid growth. KP Energy Ltd has received new order of total capacity of 368.55 mw — 185.85MW by Aditya Birla Renewables Subsidiary Ltd and 182.70 mw by ABREL (RJ) Projects Ltd — for development of balance of plant for 368.55 mw wind capacity forming part of an upcoming wind-solar hybrid project in Gujarat. The order also includes development of a 220kV transmission line for evacuation of 673 mw. KP Energy will be responsible for providing a range of EPCC services for the project, entailing land acquisition, design, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning for the balance of plant and securing the necessary project approvals. Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that on March 6, 2024, the company incorporated three wholly-owned subsidiaries named Genus Smart Metering Pvt Ltd, Genus Metering Infra Pvt Ltd and Genus Advance Metering Pvt Ltd. Each of these entities has been incorporated as a special purpose vehicle for execution of Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) contracts, Genus Power said without giving further details on the precise contracts that these entities would be entrusted. Suzlon Group has announced a new order win for the development of a 72.45-mw wind power project for Juniper Green Energy. Suzlon will install 23 wind turbine generators with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3.15 mw each at the client’s site at the Dwarka district in Gujarat.  This order is for the company’s larger rated 3.15 mw, S144‐140m turbines from the 3-mw product series. As part of the agreement, Suzlon will supply the wind turbines (equipment supply) and execute the project including, erection sand commissioning. Suzlon will also undertake comprehensive operations and maintenance services post‐commissioning. (March 7, 2024)

 

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, Hitachi Energy initiated a community outreach program, which also coincides with the celebration of International Women’s Day. Through this program, over a couple of weeks, the company reached out to over 1,000 students from government schools in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Vadodara, with a special focus on girl students (see picture). Through this engagement, the company touched upon health, wellness and life skills. In Bengaluru, and Mysuru, Hitachi Energy organized a special session on health and hygiene for girl students. Adani Green Energy Twenty Four A Ltd and Adani Green Energy Twenty Four B Ltd, wholly-owned step-down subsidiaries of Adani Green Energy Ltd have operationalized an incremental 448.95 mw of solar power projects at Khavda, Gujarat. Together with earlier projects, an aggregate of 1,000 mw of solar power projects are operationalized at Khavda. With operationalization of these plants, AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 9,478 mw, in its journey of 45 GW capacity by 2030, Adani Green Energy said in a stock exchange communication. The board of directors of NTPC Ltd, in its meeting on March 3, 2024, accorded investment approval to the Singrauli thermal power project (Stage III) of 2×800-mw at an appraised current estimated cost of Rs.17,195.31 crore. It is understood from independent sources that BHEL, on December 21, 2023, submitted its price bids for the EPC package of this project and BHEL is learnt to be the only bidder. Located in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, the Singrauli thermal power project currently has installed capacity of 2,000 mw spread over five units of 200 mw and two of 500 mw, commissioned between 1982 and 1987. Alfa Transformers, in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received a Rs.27.39-crore order from three power utilities under Gujarat Electricity Board for the supply of 4,994 transformers of 10kVA rating, within seven months of the date of order. These transformers will be designed and manufactured at Alfa Transformers’ plant located at Waghodia in Vadodara district, Gujarat. (March 2, 2024)

 

Torrent Power Ltd has received a letter of award from Railway Energy Management Company Ltd (REMCL) for setting up of grid-connected renewable power projects, with or without storage, for supply of 100 mw round-the-clock (RTC) power. The project shall be commissioned within 24 months from the signing of PPA. The project, estimated to cost Rs.2,700 crore, involves setting up of around 325 mw of RE capacity, so as to enable 100 mw of RTC-RE power. Torrent Power is will supply power at Rs.4.25 per kwh for a 25-year period. (March 2, 2024)

 

Servotech Power Systems Ltd has bagged an order of 1,400 DC fast EV chargers from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and other EV charger OEMs. The total order, valued at Rs.111 crore, involves two charger variants of 60kW and 120kW. The order secured by IOCL involves Servotech manufacturing, supplying and installing DC EV chargers nationwide, prioritizing deployment at IndianOil petrol pumps and other said locations. Additionally, Servotech will also manufacture and supply the rest of the chargers to EV charger OEMs. (March 1, 2024)

 

NTPC Ltd announced the successful commercial operations of Unit-2 of its Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (STPP), Stage-I (2×800-mw), effective March 1, 2024. This has taken NTPC’s standalone installed capacity to 58,638 mw and NTPC Group’s commercial capacity to 74,758 mw. (March 1, 2024)

 

Amplus Solar has successfully commissioned its first ISTS-connected solar project. This 360-mw power plant, located in Jaimalsar village in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, will supply power to C&I consumers nationwide. The solar facility is equipped with the latest available solar technology, including bi-facial modules, single-axis trackers, and 100 per cent robotic cleaning systems, a release by Amplus Solar said. Jakson Green has signed its first PPA, marking the company’s entry in the renewable energy IPP segment. The 25-year PPA was signed with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and relates to a project won by Jakson in SECI’s Tranche XI auction. Jakson Green will be responsible for identifying suitable land, installing the project, and acquiring ownership, besides ensuring necessary approvals and connectivity with the ISTS network for supplying power to SECI. The project is expected to be operational within 18 months from PPA signing date. (March 1, 2024)

NTPC Green Energy Ltd, on February 28, 2024, signed a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco) for development of renewable energy parks in Maharashtra. The JV company shall develop GW-scale RE park and projects in a phased manner, thereby realizing the green energy objectives of NTPC and the GOI’s efforts towards energy transition, an official release said. Mahagenco currently has an installed power generation capacity of about 13,170 mw that includes 9,540 mw coal-based, 2,580 mw of hydropower, 672 mw gas-based and 378 mw from solar power plants. Waaree Energies Ltd has entered into an agreement with Mahindra Susten for the supply of 280 mw of AHNAY Series, Bi-55 545Wp modules to Mahindra Susten. Module delivery is expected during third quarter of FY25.  The selected modules by Mahindra Susten are bifacial Glass-to-Glass with a 30-year output performance warranty, a release from Waaree Energies said. SJVN, through its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), has signed a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Ltd (JKPCL). The PUA has been signed for 300-mw of solar power capacity to be supplied to JKPCL from the under-construction 1,000-mw Bikaner solar power project that is being developed by SGEL in Rajasthan under IREDA’s CPSU Scheme at a cost of Rs.5,491 crore. SJVN has announced successful commercial operation of its 50-mw Gujrai solar power station located in District Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. With this, the total installed capacity of SJVN now stands at 2,277 mw with ten power stations currently operational. The 50-mw Gujrai solar power station was executed by SJVN through its renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), with an outlay of Rs.281 crore. The Gujrai project has a 25-year PPA with state agency Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (February 24, 2024)

Jakson Green has announced the signing of its first power purchase agreement. The 25-year PPA was signed with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (RUVNL) for a 100-mnw solar PV plant in Rajasthan that Jakson Green had won in April 2023 under an auction conducted by RUVNL in April 2023, at a tariff of Rs.2.61 per kwh. The project is scheduled to commission within 18 months from the PPA signing date. (February 23, 2024)

 

Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions and Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) have signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for the generation and supply of renewable energy from a 45.9-mw solar-wind captive power project under a SPV named Clean Max BIAL Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd. The captive power project set up in the solar-wind farm located in Jagaluru, Karnataka, owned and operated by CleanMax, will consist of 36 mw(p) MWp of solar power and 9.9 mw of wind power plants. The project will ensure annual supply of around 58.3 MU (million units or million kwh) of solar power and 31 MU of wind power utilising the existing grid infrastructure. (February 23, 2024)

 

Advait Infratech Ltd announced the winning of a contract from Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA), under which the company will undertake the integration of 66,000 solar pump devices with advanced SCADA software, facilitating remote monitoring and connectivity with existing state and national level portals under the PM-KUSUM Scheme. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd has signed a power delivery agreement with Tata Communications for an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar power plant. The project, facilitated through a special purpose vehicle Nivade Windfarm Ltd has an estimated order value of Rs.105 crore. Located in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, the plant is projected to generate approximately 40 MU of power while offsetting more than 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. (February 14, 2024)

 

Sterlite Power has announced the successful refinancing of the Lakadia-Vadodara Transmission project loan within 12 months of the project becoming fully operational. The new financing from HDFC Bank, IIFCL and Bank of Baroda will enable prepayment of the existing project loan of approximately Rs.1,840 crore, Sterlite Power said in a release. HPL Electric & Power Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received an order worth Rs.181 crore from a leading but unnamed Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) for the supply of smart meters. “The order is to be executed as per the terms and conditions of the Letter of Award (LoA),” the filing said without giving any further details. Bid process coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), on February 9, 2024, handed over five project SPVs incorporated for development of ISTS schemes to the respective successful bidders. Accordingly, Dhule Power Transmission Ltd and Ishanagar Power Transmission Ltd were transferred to a consortium of India Grid Trust subsidiaries; Bidar Transmission Ltd and Sikar Khetri Transmission Ltd were handed over to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd; Karera Power Transmission Ltd went to Apraava Energy. In a recent official notice, PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) has terminated the bidding process for appointment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) for implementation of a smart metering project in UT of Puducherry. No reasons for the termination were immediately available. As reported by T&D India, PFCCL had technically qualified seven bidders for the purpose of opening of financial bids, which was scheduled to take place on January 19, 2024. (February 12, 2024)

 

SJVN has received the letter of intent from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 200-mw solar power project. SJVN Green Energy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN had earlier bagged the initial 100-mw solar project through bidding and further 100 mw under the greenshoe option, at a tariff of Rs 2.63 per unit on BOO basis in e-RA conducted by GUVNL in December 2023. The ground mounted solar project, estimated to cost Rs.1,100 crore, can be located anywhere in India and will sell power to GUVNL under a 25-year PPA. (February 8, 2024)

 

Jyoti Structures Ltd (JSL), in a stock exchange communication, said that it has received a Rs.290-crore order to be completed in 18 months from Torrent PowerGrid Ltd. The order entails EPC work of a 400kV multi-circuit transmission line in Gujarat. Another order was received for design and prototype testing of tower for the 400kV double-circuit Oman-UAE Interconnector project. This order, worth $1.8 million (around Rs.15 crore), is to be executed in six months, the JSL filing said. (February 7, 2024)

 

GE Power India Ltd (GEPIL) has received an order valued at Rs.5.46 crore from Lanco Anpara Power Pvt Ltd related to replacement/refurbishment of bottom bars related to 660-mw DEC-make generator at Anpara. Recyclekaro has entered into an MoU with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to utilize/leverage BARC’s advanced technology for the extraction of high-purity copper oxide nano-particles from depopulated printed circuit boards (PCBs). The produced copper oxide nano-particles hold immense potential as a catalyst for various industrial processes, antibacterial coatings for medical and electronic devices and sensors, as well as conductive inks and water purification. Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd (WRTL), in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received an order from an unnamed domestic entity for EPC work of a solar power plant of 412 MWp/335 MWac, on turnkey basis. The order, valued at Rs.547.50 crore, is scheduled for completion by December 31, 2024. WRTL’s unexecuted order book, post this mandate, stands at 1.161 GW. The Odisha government has sanctioned a 3-acre plot to Best Power Equipments (BPE) where the company will make multimillion-dollar investment to establish a factory near Bhubaneswar in the next three years, a release by BPE said. BPE currently operates from six manufacturing units in Noida and Greater Noida. In this establishment, the company is set to focus on the production of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and lithium batteries, the release added. (February 5, 2024)

BCPL Railway Infrastructure Ltd has signed an agreement for execution of an EPC project under Alipurduar and Rangiya Divisions of Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway. This contract agreement has been received for the work of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 25kV, 50Hz, single-phase AC electrification work including OHE, TSS, SCADA and CLS panel works in Abhayapuri – Gauripur single line section under Alipurduar and Rangiya division of NF Railway in EPC mode. The length of the corridor is 84.577 route km or 100.411 track km. The total project cost comprises of Rs. 826.62 million and it is expected to be executed over a period of 546 days, BCPL said in a stock exchange notification. (February 2, 2024)

 

Hartek Group announced that it has completed on EPC basis a 220kV substation for steel manufacturer Madhav KRG HRC Pvt Ltd. This is believed to be Punjab’s first 220kV substation in the private sector. The technical details include 220/66/33kV project specifications, featuring CRP Panels sourced meticulously from Hartek Group’s in-house power distribution products manufacturing unit, Hartek India Pvt Ltd. Servotech Power Systems Ltd
has bagged an order of 1,800 DC Fast EV Chargers from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). The project valued at Rs.120 crore will involve Servotech manufacturing, supplying, installing and strategically deploying these 1800 EV chargers across the nation, particularly at BPCL petrol pumps in major cities, as part of the BPCL E-drive Project. The project encompasses two charger variants, 60 kW and 120 kW and Servotech aims to complete this extensive project by the end of 2024. (January 30, 2024)

 

Suzlon Group has announced an order from an Evren company, ABC Cleantech Pvt Ltd, for installation of 214 wind turbine generators with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower and rated capacity of 3-mw each, in Andhra Pradesh.  Apart from the supply of WTGs, Suzlon will also undertake installation, commissioning and post-commissioning O&M for the project. Evren  is a joint venture in India between Brookfield and Axis Energy. (January 30, 2024)

 

NTPC Green Energy Ltd has signed an MoU with Maharashtra government for development of green hydrogen (and its derivatives like green ammonia, green methanol) of up to 1 million tonnes per year capacity, as well as pumped storage hydro projects of 2 GW and development of renewable energy projects with or without storage up to 5 GW in the state. The MoU is part of Maharashtra’s Green Investment Plan and envisages potential investment of approximately Rs.80, 000 crore, over the next five years. (January 30, 2024)

 

Advait Infratech Ltd has announced the completion of a groundbreaking 300kW Green hydrogen Production plant and 70 kWh PEM fuel cell at office complex of THDC India, in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The project, initiated on January 5, 2023, incorporates a 300 kWh alkaline electrolyser, capable of generating 50 kg of high-purity hydrogen during daylight hours. This hydrogen is stored in a 24m3 storage tank, pressurized at 30 bar, ensuring its availability when needed. During nighttime, the stored hydrogen seamlessly powers a 70 kWh fuel cell, feeding energy into THDC’s grid and contributing to a more stable and sustainable power supply. (January 27, 2024)

 

SJVN has secured full quoted capacity of a 100-mw solar power project through e-reverse auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. The project was bagged at a tariff of Rs.2.54 per kwh, on BOO basis, through a tariff based competitive bidding process of GUVNL Phase XXI. This Rs.550-crore ground-mounted project shall be developed by SJVN Green Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of SJVN Ltd, at the Khavda solar park of Gujarat Industrial Power Corporation Ltd. CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) has set up its first captive solar power plant. Located in Tamil Nadu, this 21-mw solar plant will generate over 30 million kwh of electricity annually. Power generated from the solar plant will be utilised predominantly for the common areas of CLINT’s assets in Tamil Nadu. This will increase CLINT’s green energy usage by over 70 per cent, reduce its carbon emissions by more than 17,000 tonnes. The facility has an 8-mw expansion potential to bring the solar plant’s total size to 29 mw, a release by CLINT said. (January 25, 2024)

 

SJVN Green Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of SJVN, has signed a contract agreement for the balance of system (BoS) of its 360-mw solar power project with Solar World Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd, Noida. State power utility Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) recently held a knowledge-sharing seminar with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for the purpose of technology sharing. Following this, PGCIL will be sharing its advanced technology, particularly for maintenance of EHV transmission lines and substations. GE Power India has received a Rs.7.01-crore order (exclusive of GST) for design, engineering, supply of wind box casing with buck stay, bracings etc. along with modified air register and dismantling of existing system and erection of wind box along with modified air register in Unit-1 of 210-mw ABL-make boilers of Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station (Phase-I) at Birshinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. GE Power India has won an order worth Rs.10.47 crore (excluding GST) from NTPC to supply spares for 660-mw generator overhauling at the Nabinagar super thermal power station in Bihar. Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received a letter of intent from Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) for supply of cables and conductors worth Rs.222.08 crore (including GST) to various projects of AGEL. FIMER announced that it has supplied 5-MVA inverters to Jakson Green for the monumental “40MW Ayodhya Solar PV Project,” developed by NTPC Green Energy Ltd. Currently, 15 MW of the project is already commissioned, spanning across two sites in Rampur Halwara and Sarairasi. Under the auspices of the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), the 40-mw solar power plant is scheduled to be fully operational in 2024.  Ayodhya is poised to become the first solar city in the state, a release by FIMER said. AmpIn Energy Transition (formerly Amp Energy India) has signed a 25-year PPA for a 6 MWp solar project with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL), Nagpur Metro Rail Project. This 6 mw capacity would be distributed across 19 sites including 13 metro station rooftop GI sheds, 2 depot building rooftop RCC installations, one admin building RCC installation, and three station track walls.  The solar project is expected to replace around 36 per cent of grid power with solar power for Nagpur Metro, a release from AmpIn Energy Transition said. Adani Group has signed several MoUs with the Maharashtra and Telangana governments outlining investment of over Rs.60,000 crore over the next ten years. Some projects envisaged in Telangana include a 100-mw data centre with investment of Rs.5,000 crore over the next 5-7 years and two pumped storage projects — Koyabestagudem (850 mw) and Nacharam (500 mw). In Maharashtra, the business conglomerate will be setting up 1-GW hyperscale data infrastructure with an investment of Rs.50,000 crore over the next 10 years. (January 18, 2024)

 

Ultracab (India) Ltd, in a stock exchange communication, said that it has won orders worth Rs.12.89 crore for cables from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, Hindustan Zinc, Jain Irrigation, Toshiba, etc, apart from recent orders worth Rs.56.44 crore from companies like Sterling & Wilson and Tata Power. Vestas has established a partnership with ArcelorMittal to launch a low-emission steel offering that significantly reduces lifetime carbon dioxide emissions from the production of wind turbine towers. The low-emission steel is produced using 100 per cent steel scrab which is melted in an electric arc furnace powered by 100 per cent wind energy at the ArcelorMittal steel mill, Industeel Charleroi, in Belgium. This would translate to approximately 25 per cent reduction of emission compared to a tower made from steel made via conventional steelmaking route. Steel and iron constitute 80-90 per cent of a wind turbine’s material mass, and approximately 50 per cent of a turbine’s total lifecycle emissions, Vestas said.  (January 16, 2024)

 

Vertiv has announced that the company has increased capacity of its switchgear, busway and integrated modular solutions (IMS) business by more than 100 per cent since acquiring the E&I Engineering and PowerBar Gulf switchgear, busway and IMS business in November 2021, and anticipates further doubling capacity with expansions through the end of 2025. The expansion plans enable Vertiv to support current commitments and accelerating customer demand for data center power infrastructure, especially for colocation and hyperscale sites, including applications for AI and high-performance compute. Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd, in a stock exchange communication, said that it has placed an order valued at around Rs.150 crore on Gensol Engineering Ltd for design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a solar power plant of 50 mw (DC) in Chhattisgarh. The plant, which would be used by Sarda Energy, for meeting its captive energy requirements, is scheduled to commission over the next 6-9 months. (January 15, 2024)

 

HPL Electric & Power Ltd, in a stock exchange communication, said that it has received smart meter orders aggregating Rs.240 crore from leading Advance Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISP), in the normal course of business. “This accomplishment adds to HPL’s already existing significant order pipeline, reinforcing its ongoing upward momentum in the dynamic smart meter sector,” the communication said without giving further details on the orders. Avaada Group has signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat to set up 6 GW of hybrid wind-solar projects in the state with an investment of about Rs 40,000 crore. The hybrid projects, located in various districts of Gujarat, predominantly in the underdeveloped waste lands of Kutch, will supply power to various utilities of India including GUVNL, and for captive use of Avaada’s green hydrogen/ammonia projects. With an estimated annual generation of 17.5 billion units of green electricity, this will lead to a reduction of approximately 16.3 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions annually, a release from Avaada Group said. NTPC Green Energy Ltd has executed MoUs with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC) and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (GPPL) during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit held recently. The MoU with GSPC envisages blending of green hydrogen in the gas networks of GSPC, and green hydrogen mobility by setting up of green hydrogen fuelling stations in Gujarat. The agreement with GPPL aims to develop a green hydrogen ecosystem including production of green ammonia at the land provided by GPPL for export and domestic market. It also aims to explore Pipavav Port as an anchor port by NGEL for exploration, development and operations of offshore wind farms in Gujarat. (January 13, 2024)

 

Siemens AG has completed the acquisition of Netherlands-headuartered Heliox, a technology leader in DC fast charging solutions, serving eBus and eTruck fleets and passenger vehicles. The acquisition complements Siemens’ existing eMobility charging portfolio, adding products and solutions ranging from 40 kW to megawatt charging solutions for depots and en-route charging. Heliox’s portfolio also extends Siemens’ market reach, primarily in Europe and North America, while improving capabilities in power electronics. Heliox’s mobile, scalable and parallel charging solutions will enable Siemens to serve these markets better, Siemens said in a release. (January 12, 2024)

 

The Power Department of Government of Meghalaya has signed an MoU with ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd . The three-year agreement envisages the development of a pump storage hydro power project, large and small hydroelectric power projects, and innovative solutions like floating solar projects, in Meghalaya. The MOU establishes a robust framework for collaborative efforts, propelling Meghalaya towards a greener and more energy-efficient future,  an official release said. (January 11, 2024)

 

GE Power India has receievd an order worth Rs.10.30 crore (excluding GST) from NTPC for supply of spares and repair of HP Inner Casing Module. The order is to be executed over the next 10.5 months, GE Power India said in a stock exchange communication. (January 10, 2024)

 

Under the “Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme (Mode-1-Tranche-I),” nodal agency Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has allocated a total green hydrogen production capacity of 4,10,000 tonnes per year. Adani Green Energy Ltd has planned to invest Rs.24,500 crore in setting up three pumped storage projects in Tamil Nadu, over the next 5-7 years. This is part of the Rs.42,700 crore worth of investment that Adani Group would be making in the southern state, the MoUs for which were signed at the recent “Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024.” (January 9, 2024)

 

Inox Wind Ltd has received a letter of intent for executing a 50-mw ISTS-connected wind power project on turnkey basis from NLC India Ltd. As part of the project, Inox Wind will supply, install and commission its DF 113/92 – 2.0 MW capacity wind turbine generators and provide comprehensive O&M services for over 10 years, post commissioning. The project will be executed at the mega Dayapar site in Kutch district of Gujarat. (January 9, 2024)

 

Power Mech Projects Ltd has received an order worth Rs.825 crore from Mahan Energen Ltd, a subsidiary of Adani Power Ltd. The order includes various civil and mechanical construction work packages related to Mahan Energen’s upcoming 2×800-mw (Phase II) Mahan ultra supercritical thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh (Village: Bandhua, District: Singrauli). The various packages are expected to be completed over a period of 22 to 33 months, Power Mech Projects said in a stock exchange communication. (January 8, 2024)

 

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its Growth Markets Fund I (CI GMF I) have taken final investment decision (FID) on a 300-mw onshore wind project in Karnataka, together with Viviid Renewables (Viviid). Construction is expected to be completed by end of 2025. CIP has also signed a turbine supply agreement with Envision Wind Power Technologies India and a foundation and crane supply contract with Sanghvi Movers. Viviid will provide balance-of-plant works and services and hold minority ownership in the project. (January 8, 2024)

 

Serentica Renewables has announced the signing of its first international and commercial bank foreign currency loan worth Rs.3,500 crore for its round-the-clock RE project in India. This deal will help Serentica in funding the development of its 530-mw hybrid (wind and solar) RE project coming up in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. This project will provide clean energy to Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), replacing 24 per cent of HZL’s their coal-based power supply with firm dispatchable green power. (January 8, 2024)

 

SJVN, through its wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Ltd  has signed a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL). The PUA has been signed for 200 mw of solar power capacity to be supplied to UPCL from the under-construction 1,000-mw Bikaner solar power project in Rajasthan. Entailing investment of Rs.5,491 crore, the solar power project is scheduled to commission by April 2024. (January 6, 2024)

 

REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd, has inked an MoU with the Government of Gujarat for Rs.2,094.28 Crores for the implementation of the Smart Metering project in PGVCL (Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd.) under Phase 1 of Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). In the strategic collaboration, the Government of Gujarat is set to facilitate RECPDCL in obtaining necessary permissions and clearances for their upcoming projects in the state. The MoU outlines a time-bound framework to streamline the establishment of RECPDCL’s projects in Gujarat, a government release said. (January 5, 2024)

 

Suzlon Group has announced a new order win for the development of a 225-mw wind power project for Everrenew Energy Pvt Ltd. Suzlon will install 75 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3 MW each at the client’s sites at Vengaimandalam, Trichy district and Ottapidaram, Tuticorin district in Tamil Nadu. This order is for the company’s larger-rated 3 MW, S144-140m turbines from the 3 – 3.15 MW product series. As part of the agreement, Suzlon will supply the wind turbines (equipment supply) and supervise the project, including commissioning. Suzlon will also undertake comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning. (January 5, 2024)

 

Kundan Green Energy has announced the receipt of a mandate from the Government of Sikkim to set-up two run-of-the-river hydropower projects at Upper Myong Chu and Lower Myong Chu at an investment of Rs.120 crore and Rs.80 crore, respectively. The plant at Upper Myong Chu will generate 12 mw of electricity, while the Lower Myong Chu facility will create 6 mw. These will increase Kundan Green Energy’s hydropower generation to over 50 mw in Sikkim.  Kundan Energy currently has for operational hydropower projects in Sikkim — Lower Lagyap, Meyong Chu, Kalex Khola, and Rabum Chu – aggregating 35 mw. REC Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of Baroda. This agreement will facilitate joint sanctions of loans to fund power, infrastructure and logistics projects in the country over the next three years, an official release said. The MoU was signed in the presence of Vivek Kumar Dewangan, IAS, , REC Ltd and Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda along with Lalit Tyagi, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda. SJVN has formed four JVs for development of clean energy projects in India and Nepal. These JVs have been formed between SJVN (or its subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Ltd) along with partners including Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Navyuga Engineering Company Ltd, Nepal Electricity Authority, GMR Energy Ltd and Assam Power Development Company Ltd. These JVs will independently pursue opportunities like 5 GW of RE projects in Maharashtra, the 1,878-mw Oju hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh, the 900-mw Upper Karnali hydropower project in Nepal and 1 GW RE projects in Assam.
