Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that it commissioned, on April 24, 2025, the first phase of 25 MW of its group captive solar power plant with total capacity 75 MW, at Vastan in Surat district, Gujarat. Vikram Solar Ltd has received an order from state power utility Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd (Mahagenco). The order involves supply of 150 MW of advanced N-Type modules to be deployed in projects under “Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0,” located in the Jalgaon and Solapur districts of Maharashtra. Suzlon has received a mandate from NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) to supply 120 S144 wind turbine generators with hybrid lattice towers (HLT) each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, and also undertake foundation, erection, and commissioning for the project located at Gadag in Karnataka. This is the second order from NGEL in less than eight months, and has taken the total NGEL order size to 1544 MW, Suzlon said. (April 23, 2025)
The Union power ministry conveyed the appointment of Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of REC Ltd with effect from April 22, 2025. Further, on appointment of Jitendra Srivastava as CMD, REC, Ms Parminder Chopra, CMD, Power Finance Corporation Limited who had been given the additional charge of CMD, REC has ceased to be CMD of the company with effect from April 22, 2025, REC said in a stock exchange filing. H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd has been declared as qualified bidder by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for setting up 300 MW/600 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) under global tariff-based competitive bidding. The project will be set up in 24 months. GUVNL had invited bids for a total of 500 MW/1,000 MWh of BESS in Gujarat, with viability gap funding (VGF) support. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) and Tata Motors Ltd have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to co-develop a 131-MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project that is set to generate approximately 300 million kwh of clean electricity annually. Enabled through co-investment and a long-term PPA, this integrated wind-solar hybrid solution will provide a reliable supply of green, cost-effective energy exclusively to Tata Motors’ six manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat, supporting the production of both commercial and passenger vehicles. Inox Wind Ltd announced that the execution of the 990-MW turnkey order out of the 1,500 MW framework agreement signed is in full swing across multiple locations in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. IWL has received all the advances related to these projects and commissioning is expected in phases from FY26 onwards. This order from Purvah Green Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of CESC Ltd, is the single largest wind order awarded by an IPP in India to any wind OEM, Inox Wind said in a release. (April 21, 2025)
Vadodara-based Viviana Power Tech Ltd, in a regulatory filing, said that its subsidiary Aarsh Transformers Pvt Ltd has received an order valued at around Rs.65.87 crore from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd, a state-owned discom in Gujarat. Suzlon has secured a 100.8-MW EPC wind power order from Sunsure Energy, marking their maiden foray into wind energy. The project is set to be executed in Maharashtra’s Jath region. Under this agreement Suzlon will supply 48 units of its S120 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with hybrid lattice towers (HLT), each rated at a 2.1 MW capacity. It will supply the wind turbines, oversee equipment installation, and execute the project, including erection and commissioning, while providing comprehensive O&M services post-commissioning. Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has launched its first solar powered micro cold storage unit in Himachal Pradesh, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Power & Instrumentation (Gujarat) Ltd [PIGL] announced that it has won an order worth Rs.80.24 lakh (inclusive of taxes) from Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd for 350 MVA power transformer erection, oil filtration, pre-erection test and oil sample test for power transformers at 400kV GIS PSS-2 GPICL, Khavda project in Gujarat. Serentica Renewables has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Ltd for the supply of 200 MW of firm dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) to Uttar Pradesh’s distribution companies. The project will utilize hybrid solar, wind, and battery storage assets across multiple states, ensuring on-demand renewable power during the state’s critical morning and evening peak hours. Siemens Energy India Ltd (SEIL) has ceased to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Ltd effective April 14,2025, Siemens Ltd said in a regulatory filing. Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) in FY25 commissioned 456 ckm of new extra high-tension lines taking the state’s total power transmission network to 42,520 ckm. Further, the state’s total transformation capacity increased to 81,911 MVA as of March 31, 2025, from 79,815 MVA as of corresponding date of 2024. In FY25, MPPTCL energized a total of 46 new power transformers. The commercial installed power generation capacity of NTPC Group crossed the 80-GW mark on April 9, 2025.This was achieved when the second part capacity of 90 MW out of the 150-MW Dayapar wind energy project Phase-I at Dayapar, Bhuj, Gujarat, began commercial operations. The Dayapar wind energy project is part of the 450-MW hybrid (wind and solar) project of NTPC-REL, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. The issue will have a base size of Rs.1,500 crore with a greenshoe option of Rs.4,500 crore. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (SWREL) has announced that it has received two new domestic letter of awards from Private IPPs, and has been declared L1 in a 200 MW AC solar project. The cumulative order value of the three domestic projects combined is around Rs. 1,470 crore including taxes and O&M. The company received its first letter of award for a Wind EPC from a private IPP for a hybrid project in Rajasthan. Scope of work includes EPC of a 69.3-MW wind balance of plant, and 58 MW AC / 75 MWp DC Solar BoS, along with 132kV/33kV pooling substation. Besides, SWREL has achieved L1 for a turnkey solar project of 200 MW AC / 260 MWp DC PV plant in Gujarat from a PSU developer, and has also received a letter of award for a PV plant in Rajasthan, from a domestic IPP. ANDRITZ has been awarded a GIS package mandate by NHPC Ltd for the latter’s Teesta-V hydroelectric project in Sikkim. The contract, signed in January 2025 but recently announced by ANDRITZ, involves supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of 420kV GIS, 400 kV Pot yard, and 400 kV XLPE cables along with auxiliaries. KEC International Ltd has secured new orders of Rs. 1,236 crores across various businesses, including power T&D, civil, transportation and cables. The foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat-III (1×800-MW) thermal power project in Chhattisgarh was laid at the hands on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on March 30, 2025. To be set up with an investment of Rs.9,791 crore and with supercritical technology, this project will provide electricity to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa, apart from home state Chhattisgarh. On commissioning, the total capacity at NTPC’s Sipat thermal power station will stand enhanced to 3,780 MW. (March 31, 2025)
The board of directors of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), on March 28, 2025, approved an investment of Rs.673.08 crore for procurement of six 397 MVA converter transformers for the Talcher-Kolar HVDC link. S&S Power Switchgear Ltd has received an order valued at over Rs.15 crore from Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd for the supply of disconnectors of up to 400kV. This project was awarded under the SECI Rajasthan-Tranche III tender. Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd (Dicabs) has announced the winning of several orders aggregating Rs.214.65 crore from Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL). These orders are mainly for the supply of 33kV HT cables but also include few mandates for 3.3kV LT cables, to be deployed at solar and wind projects of AGEL. Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE) has received the letter of acceptance (LoA) for 300-MW solar plus storage project from NHPC. The project is part of NHPC’s 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects tender with 600 MW/1200 MW energy storage systems. JIRE has bagged 300 MW of solar power capacity (including 120 MW greenshoe option), on BOO basis, from NHPC at a tariff of Rs 3.09 per kwh. Power Mech Projects Ltd has reported the winning of an order valued at Rs.579 crore (excluding GST) for civil, structural and architectural works relating to the upcoming 2×800-MW Koderma Thermal Power Project (Phase-II) of Damodar Valley Corporation, in Jharkhand. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) have signed an agreement to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery swapping stations across DDA sports complexes in the city. As part of the agreement, DDA will provide adequate vacant land at identified locations within its sports complexes. REC Ltd has signed an MoU with the Energy Management Centre (EMC), Government of Kerala, for collaboration and financing of pumped storage projects (PSP) in Kerala. Under this agreement, REC intends to finance Rs.18,360 crore in the PSP segment in Kerala over the next five years. Tata Power has launched ‘Club Enerji Eco Crew’—India’s largest energy literacy movement to create awareness about solar energy usage and promote eco-conscious practices among school students. Eco Crew seeks to reach over 5 lakh students across 1,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh, covering 24 towns, including key locations like Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Meerut, Agra and Kanpur. CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd (CG) has entered into a long-term supply agreement with Kinet Railway Solutions Ltd for supply and servicing of railway products including propulsion kits with motors, transformers and various other items. As part of this agreement, the first purchase order, ranging between Rs.400 crore to Rs.450 crore, has been secured by CG for the supply of railway products for 10 Vande Bharat trainsets. Vertiv has announced its partnership with BRIGHT-I Systems Ltd as the exclusive service partner in Bangladesh. BRIGHT-I becomes the first official franchisee partner of Vertiv to service local businesses and organizations for power and thermal products in the country. Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd (SEIL) said that it would be increasing its RMU (ring main unit) manufacturing capacity by 25 per cent, taking it to around 32,000 functions. Towards this, the SEIL board approved a capital expenditure plan of around Rs.15.8 crore, which would be met through internal accruals and borrowings. The capacity expansion plan is likely to be completed by end of June 2026. SEIL’s current RMU capacity is around 25,600 functions and is operating at around 90 per cent. The rationale behind the capacity expansion was to meet market demand, SEIL said in a stock exchange communication. (March 10, 2025)

Inox Wind Ltd (IWL) has bagged a 153-MW order from an unnamed renewable energy developer for the supply of IWL’s 3 MW class turbines for a project being developed in Tamil Nadu. Suzlon has secured an order of 204.75 MW from Jindal Green Wind 1 Pvt Ltd under which Suzlon will supply 65 units of S144 wind turbine generators with hybrid lattice towers, each rated at 3.15 MW. The energy generated will be utilized for captive consumption in steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. This is the third order for Suzlon from the same customer taking the total order size to 907.20 MW, making it the company’s largest C&I order. (March 4, 2025)
Recyclekaro has announced a major expansion of its operations, increasing its total recycling capacity to 24,000 tonnes annually at its facility in Palghar, near Mumbai. This expansion significantly boosts Recyclekaro’s e-waste recycling capacity from 7,500 tonnes to 24,000 tonnes per year and battery recycling capacity from 4,200 tonnes to 10,000 tonnes per year, a company release said. Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd [TARIL] has won an order valued at Rs.272 crore from Adani Group for supply of transformers. Besides, TARIL also landed an export mandate of Rs.78 crore to supply transformers to Iraq-based Al Sabha Group and Powerlink Queensland (Australia). GE Power India Ltd (GEPIL) has reported the winning of an additional order worth Rs.273.50 crore from Greenko KA01 IREP Pvt Ltd. The order entails engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply, installation and testing of electromechanical equipment for one additional unit of 320-MW for the Saundatti pumped storage project (PSP) in Karnataka. The original order, worth Rs.863.40 crore, was placed by the same client for the same project, and was associated with various works corresponding to 1,280 MW of capacity. Bisleri International Pvt Ltd has partnered with Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Business to enhance energy efficiency and expand the use of renewable energy. As part of the partnership, up to 13.6 MW of solar power will be installed across six major Bisleri International plants in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. Adani Green Energy Twenty Five A Ltd, a wholly-owned stepdown subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has operationalized incremental 275 MW of solar power capacity at Khavda, Gujarat. The board of directors of UltraTech Cement Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, in its meeting on February 25, 2025, approved capital expenditure of Rs.1,800 crore to be made over the next two years, to support the company’s diversification in the wires and cables business. REC Ltd has signed an agreement with Chenab Valley Power Project Ltd (CVPPL) to provide a term loan of around Rs.2,147.51 crore that will be utilized for the development and construction of the 1,000-MW greenfield Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project with a total estimated cost of ₹12,669.67 crore. Waaree Group announced that it conducted the ground-breaking ceremony of its proposed advanced alkaline electrolyser manufacturing facility in Valsad, Gujarat, on February 10, 2025. The facility will have an initial production capacity of 300 MW. GREW Solar has announced that it would invest Rs.3,000 crore in putting up a manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh to produce 3 GW of solar cells annually. The plant is expected to come up on a 60-acre land expanse at Narmadapuram, near Bhopal. Meanwhile, GREW Solar recently started operations at the second unit of the Jaipur plant in Rajasthan, and has also started construction on the third. Eastman Auto & Power Ltd, through its subsidiary Eastman New Energy Pvt Ltd. has announced a strategic partnership with MTOW Mobility Pvt Ltd (Urja Mobility) in battery leasing in the electric three-wheeler segment. As part of the collaboration for which an MoU has been signed between the two parties, Urja Mobility has decided to engage Eastman for supplying 20,000+ lithium-ion batteries to execute the battery leasing solution across the country. The Bombay High Court, in its order dated February 6, 2025, has permitted Adani Electricity Mumbai Infra Ltd to cut 209 mangroves for setting up an electricity transmission line near the Vasai creek for the supply of electricity to Mumbai and its suburbs. Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (GPIL) said that steel billets manufactured by the company have been approved by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for use by all manufacturers of galvanized steel structures for power transmission projects of PGCIL. Earlier, GPIL used to source billets from other leading steel producers including Steel Authority of India Ltd. GPIL also supplies galvanized fabricated steel structures to PGCIL and it is today the only Indian company that has the entire production value chain from iron ore to finished product. Senvion India has joined forces with a German wooden wind turbine blade manufacturer, Voodin Blade Technology GmbH to develop and manufacture high-performance wooden wind turbine blades for Senvion’s 4.2 MW wind turbine platform. The partnership will begin with a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental potential of wooden turbine blades, followed by the installation and testing of prototype blades. Voodin Blade Technology GmbH specializes in creating sustainable wood-based wind turbine blades using LVL to enhance performance and reduce environmental impact. MP Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has installed and charged a power transformer of 200 MVA capacity at the 220kV Pithampur Sector -III substation in Dhar district. It is the first 200-MVA capacity power transformer in the said district. Apraava Energy announced the successful commissioning of its largest wind power project with the capacity of 250.7 MW (comprising 120 numbers of 2.1-MW rated Suzlon WTGs) located at Sidhpurin Devbhoomi Dwaraka district, Gujarat. The project was awarded to Apraava Energy as part of the Tranche VIII wind tender sponsored by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The board of Exide Industries Ltd has decided to inject Rs.300 crore by way of equity in its wholly-owned subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions Ltd (EESL), Exide said in a stock exchange filing. KEC International Ltd has secured new orders of Rs.1,445 crore with respect to domestic power T&D projects. The orders include those from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for ± 800kV HVDC and 400kV transmission lines. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has emerged as a successful bidder in an e-reverse auction conducted by NHPC Ltd. Consequently, NTPC REL secured a capacity of 300 MW at a tariff of Rs.3.09 per unit. In line with the Request for Selection (RFS) conditions, the project will include the establishment of an energy storage system (ESS) with capacity of 150MW/300MWh, ensuring enhanced reliability and efficiency of the solar power generation. Kalpataru Projects International Ltd (KPIL), along with its international subsidiaries, has received new orders worth Rs.2,038 crore, including mandates in the domestic and international power T&D segment. ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ASHL), through its wholly-owned subsidiaries ACME Deoghar Solar Power Pvt Ltd and ACME Phalodi Solar Energy Pvt Ltd, has commissioned the remaining capacity of 47 MW and 39.95 MW, respectively, on January 23, 2025. These two plants, both in Rajasthan, are now fully commissioned to rated capacity of 300 MW each. With this, ASHL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 2,540 MW. Suzlon Group has received an order from Torrent Power to supply 162 units of S144 wind turbine generators (WTG) with hybrid lattice towers, each rated at 3 MW, for deployment in the Bhogat region of Gujarat. Saatvik Green Energy Ltd has been awarded two solar EPC contracts by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL). Aggregating 23 MW of installed capacity, these contracts include a 11-MW solar project in Lamlehri Upperli and a 12-MW solar project in Gondpur Bulla, both in Una district. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has acquired 77,30,225 equity shares hitherto held by IL&FS Energy Development Company Ltd (IEDCL) in Cross Border Power Transmission Company Ltd (CPTCL). With this, PGCIL’s shareholding in CPTCL has risen to 42 per cent. Incorporated in December 2006, CPTCL is a joint venture between PGCIL, IEDCL, SJVN Ltd and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to implement the Indian portion of 400kV double-circuit Muzaffapur-Dhalkebar Indo-Nepal cross border power transmission line. Surana Power & Telecom Ltd has received a letter of award as solar power developer from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for building solar PV stations aggregating 54 MW (AC) at various locations in Maharashtra. The project is part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 scheme, which is part of Component C of PM-KUSUM Yojana. The solar power plants will be built over a period of 18 months, and the overall contract, valued at Rs.190 crore, also includes a 25-year O&M mandate. Hartek Group’s C&I rooftop solar business unit has won complete solar EPC contract of 8-MW from Kandhari Beverages Pvt Ltd, a bottling plant of Hindustan Coca Cola. This will become Jammu & Kashmir’s largest rooftop solar installation, a Hartek Group release said, adding that the project is under execution and will be commissioned this quarter. REC Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Gandhigram Rural Institute under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. REC has committed financial assistance of Rs.8.44 crore for establishing a 1-MW multi-technology ground mounted, grid connected solar photovoltaic power plant for the benefit of students, research scholar at the Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has commissioned 110 MW of new solar power generation capacity – 60 MW at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and 50 MW at Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh. The tender, aimed at the “Selection of Solar Power Developers for Setting up 2,000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Projects in India under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding,” was conducted on January 3, 2025. REC Ltd has disbursed loans worth Rs.54,692 crore during Q3 (October to December) of FY25, up 17.98 per cent year-on-year. The quantum of renewable energy loan disbursements grew 58.09 per cent year-on-year to reach Rs.6,314 crore in Q3FY25. For the nine months (April to December) period of FY25, REC disbursed total loans amounting to Rs.1,45,647 crore, which is higher by 19.30 per cent compared to Rs.1,22,089 crore disbursed in corresponding period of FY24.Of this, renewable energy loans aggregated Rs.17,612 crore, up 78.68 per cent year-on-year.
