Siemens records highest-ever order backlog

The order backlog of Siemens Ltd, as of June 30, 2021, is the company’s highest ever, the company said in a media release.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2021, Siemens Ltd registered standalone revenue from continuing operations of Rs.2,658 crore, against Rs 1,149 crore in the same period last year.

New orders from continuing operations stood at Rs.4,341 crore in the quarter ending June 30, 2021, as against Rs.1,767 crore in the same period last year. This means more than doubling of the new order inflow, on a year-on-year basis.

 

The company’s order backlog stands at a healthy Rs. 14,267 crore, as of June 30, 2021, which is the highest ever.

 

Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Ltd, said “Siemens Ltd has delivered yet another solid performance this quarter despite the challenges of the second wave of the pandemic. All our business segments recorded order income growth over 2019levels, and we have a very healthy order backlog. The integration activities of our recently acquired C&S business are on track, and we are beginning to realize the first synergy benefits.”

The consolidated new orders, revenue and profit after tax numbers from continuing operations for the quarter ended June 30, 2021, are Rs.4,584 crore, Rs.2,881 crore and Rs.139 crore, respectively.

The main segments under which Siemens operates are: energy, smart infrastructure, mobility and digital industries.

Note: The accounting year of Siemens runs from October 1 to September 30. The quarter ending June 30, 2021 therefore represents the third quarter (Q3) for the current financial year ending on September 30, 2021.

 

Acquisition

It may be recalled that on 1 March 2021, Siemens Ltd acquired 99.22 per cent equity share capital of C&S Electric Ltd from its promoters for a consideration of around Rs.2,159 crore, on cash free / debt free basis on terms and conditions that are mutually agreed between the parties to the transaction.
