Three special purpose vehicles have newly been incorporated for housing power transmission schemes that will be bid out under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism.
While two SPVs – one each for an interstate and intrastate scheme – have been incorporated by bid process coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) has formed one SPV for an interstate project.
These SPVs have been incorporated as wholly-owned subsidiaries of the respective BPC and will be eventually transferred to the successful bidder selected under the TBCB framework.

According to information available with tnindia.com, there are currently around seven ISTS-TBCB schemes, which are yet in the planning (pre-bidding) stage, and for whom SPV incorporation is pending. These seven schemes are being managed severally by PFCCL and RECPDCL.
The active bidding pipeline of ISTS-TBCB projects currently stands at nine, including the South Kalamb scheme discussed in this story.
