Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd [TARIL] has reported a near doubling of order inflow during the second quarter (Q2: July to September) of FY27.
In a release, TARIL said that its new order inflow in Q2FY27, at Rs.1,169 crore, was 97 per cent higher than the comparable level in Q2FY26.
During the first half (H1: April to September) of FY27, TARIL’s new order inflow, at Rs.3,283 crore, was 161 per cent higher than the corresponding level in H1FY26.
New order inflows in FY27 were boosted by major orders like those for supplying generator step-up (GSU) transformers to the Kaiga nuclear power plant, and a Rs.1,000-crore plus order by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).
Order book
As of September 30, 2026, TARIL unexecuted order book was Rs.7,237 crore, up 32 per cent from its corresponding level in FY26.
Besides, TARIL estimates a bidding pipeline of around Rs.21,000 crore, comprising 80 per cent domestic opportunities and 20 per cent from exports. The company has estimated that it has had a historic win ratio of 10 per cent to 15 per cent. This could potentially translate into new order inflows of Rs.2,100 crore to Rs.3,150 crore in the medium term.
Changodar plant
TARIL has indicated that the ongoing capacity expansion at its Changodar plant in Gujarat is nearing completion. Commercial production from the expanded capacity should commence by November 2026. At Changodar, TARIL has invested around Rs.150 crore to ramp up annual manufacturing capacity from 12,000 MVA to 35,000 MVA. This plant is equipped to produce distribution transformers, inverter duty transformers (IDT) and power transformers of 132kV and 220kV rating.
TARIL’s total manufacturing capacity arising from its three plants – Changodar, Moraiya and Odhav, all in Gujarat – currently stands at 75,000 MVA. Besides, TARIL is enhancing its backward integration facilities so as to achieve 100 per cent backward integration.
According to information previously released, by June 2027 (end of Q1FY28), TARIL is expected to commission several backward integration facilities such as continuously transposed conductor (CTC), transformer bushings, pressboard, tank fabrication and CRGO processing.
Revenue visibility
According to Satyen Mamtora, Managing Director & CEO, TARIL, “The current order book provides comfortable revenue visibility, while the Changodar expansion positions us to service a larger opportunity pipeline across markets. Alongside capacity enhancement, we are strengthening our global customer engagement through our UK subsidiary, particularly across the US and European markets.”
