It also discussed about how smart grids are emerging as the critical enabling infrastructure for all flagship Government of India (GoI) programs such as 24×7 Power for All, 100 Smart Cities, 175 GW of Renewable Energy by 2022, National Mission on Electric Mobility with a target of 6-7 million Electric Vehicles by 2022, smart metering for all electricity customers on fast track, etc.

Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power said, “It is our pleasure to host the Distribution Utility Meet 2018. We are honoured to represent a unified voice to influence the discom community, and leverage each other’s experiences for successful nationwide smart grid roll out. Convergence of both electrical and information technology coupled with communication technology is changing the landscape of power sector today. Technology advancement has transformed the Indian power sector so much so that individuals can now produce power locally than have large power stations to supply power to cities & villages. Therefore, it is necessary for all utilities to gear up for this transformation, to become the backbone of the power sector and provide quality services to the consumers. ”
