Power Transmission

As of September 30, 2026, Torrent Power had an operational transmission line portfolio comprising 952 ckm of 400kV lines and 388 ckm of 220kV lines.

Another 80 ckm is expected to be commissioned through an ISTS-TBCB project housed under “Solapur Transmission Ltd.” This project, termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from RE projects in Solapur (1,500 MW) SEZ in Maharashtra” entails a 400kV double-circuit line from Solapur pooling substation (PS) to PGCIL’s Solapur substation, running 80 ckm.

This transmission line was originally scheduled for commissioning in March 2026 but is running behind schedule following RoW-related concerns, particularly in Dharashiv district (formerly, Osmanabad).

According to a report by Central Electricity Authority, as of September 30, 2026, out of the total 111 locations, towers foundations were built to the extent of 109 and tower erection had taken place on 108 of these. Stringing was completed to the extent of only around 50 per cent of the total length.

The new Solapur PS, equipped with 400/220kV, 4×500 MVA interconnecting transformers, was almost complete. However, around 4 acres of land, needed for future expansion of the substation, was under acquisition.

Torrent Power is also building a 400kV transmission line, of about 28 ckm, associated with the company’s Saidongar-I pumped storage project coming up in Maharashtra. The PSP with 3-GW capacity is coming up in Raigad district, with a total investment of Rs.14,000 crore. According to information released by Torrent Power, contracts for the civil, hydro-mechanical and electromechanical packages were signed as of September 30, 2026.
