A Union power ministry release said that Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has restored power supply to Diu, following emergency restoration works taken up on one of the two 220kV feeder lines in Gujarat, which were devastated in the Tauktae cyclone.

On May 28, 2021, PGCIL restored the 220kV Timbdi-Dhokadva line. Using emergency restoration works, it set up eleven towers and also constructed 10 new towers, a government release. PGCIL took up the restoration on a war footing and a team of about 600 personnel including expert manpower from the company worked round-the-clock for early restoration of the lines in which about 33 towers collapsed besides suffering other damage.

With the commissioning of this line fifteen 66kV substations of GETCO could be energised to provide reliable power supply to Diu and nearby areas.

Work for restoration of the 220kV Savarkundla-Dhokadva line is currently in progress.

Following extensive damage due to the Tauktae cyclone, PGCIL was assigned the task of restoring 220kV Timbdi-Dhokadva and Savarkundla-Dhokadva Transmission Lines feeding power to Diu — of the union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH&DD).
