Central power PSU SJVN Ltd has now aimed to achieve installed power generation capacity of 50 GW by 2040, as against 25 GW envisaged earlier.

In a release, SJVN said that it has upgraded its vision so as to achieve 5 GW generation capacity by 2023,  25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040.

This revision has resulted from the addition of multiple projects in its portfolio and already established repute of successfully operating and implementing mega hydropower projects in India and abroad.

Apart from the mainstay hydropower, SJVN has diversified into other forms of electricity generation like thermal, solar and wind.

The earlier vision of 25 GW by 2040 was shared on May 24, 2018 – the company’s 31st Raising Day. The new vision was promulgated during the Republic Day address of the company’s CMD, N.L. Sharma.  During last three years, business development of the company has gained pace and made rapid strides, the release said.

According to Sharma, “Relentless effort of SJVNites has led to company portfolio of more than 16,000 mw. Growing portfolio of SJVN has necessitated this upward revision of Shared Vision. Projects which were languishing on the drawing board for several years have been brought to the construction stage. Never before has SJVN been executing as many projects at a time as it is doing today.”
