ERDA receives UCA accreditation for testing of numerical relays and IEDs

Electrical Research & Development Association (ERDA), in a statement, said that it has received UCA accreditation to perform IEC61850 conformance testing of numerical relays and intelligent electronic devices (IED).

The accreditation was given accordance with the Users Group Quality Assurance Testing Program Procedures as per globally acceptable UCA International Users Group Edition 2 & 1 Server Accreditation.

With the result, ERDA is now capable and competent for testing of intelligent electronic equipment, numerical protection relays, bay control units, bay protection units, gateways, transformer tap controller/changer, etc. with IEC 61850 communication protocol as per Annexure-1 & 2 of MOP order No. 12/34/2020-T&R dated. 08.06.2021, ERDA said in the release.

ERDA is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory for communication protocol testing of substation automation devices. This laboratory is equipped with an array of DNV-GL, Netherlands, and supplied test tools for complete conformance testing of communication protocols as per IEC: 61850 – 5 to 10.

ERDA is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a Government of India Statutory Organization, for protocol testing as per these standards under ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
