In a project awarded by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Linxon has successfully designed, supplied, constructed, installed and commissioned the 8-bay 132kV Abraj gas insulated substation (GIS).

Located in the central professional district of Business Bay, the substation is essential to further expansion, the end-user being North 25 Project management Group (part of the DH Real Estate LLC group), a release by Linxon said.

“This is yet another successful collaboration between Linxon Gulf and DEWA” said Hassan Merhi, Managing Director of Linxon Middle East & Africa. “We are delighted to be accompanying the United Arab Emirates in the sustainable expansion of their energy grid.”

Linxon’s complete offering included power transformers, a reactor, 11 kV air-insulated switchgears, earthing/auxiliary transformers, capacitor banks, control and protection and CCTV systems, civil works, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and small power systems.

To meet decarbonisation targets, Linxon aims to halve CO2 emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. The company brings sustainability to its clients by questioning traditional ways of building electrical substations. Owned by the government of Dubai, DEWA plays an important role in the Emirate meeting its own net-zero targets. With fully engineered solar diesel hybrid power for all onsite facilities, the Abraj substation offers both parties the opportunity to align on more sustainable vision of the energy grid.

Linxon is active within the United Arab Emirates via Linxon Gulf based in Dubai. The company also energized the Sanad 132/11kV substation this month in the Jebel Ali Port area, offering similar integration of renewable energy.
