JSW Energy Ltd, through its step-down subsidiary, has signed a power purchase agreement with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (BESCOM) for a solar-cum-BESS project.

In a release, JSW Energy said that its step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Ltd has signed a PPA with BESCOM for a grid-connected 100-MW solar project along with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The project will be developed on a designated site and will be grid-connected at the 220kV side of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd’s 220/400kV Firozabad substation in Kalabugari district.

It is reliably learnt that JSW Energy won this project in response to a tender floated by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd in August last year.

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed for a tenure of 25 years at a tariff of Rs.4.31 per kWh. Subsequent to this JSW Energy’s total locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 29.4 GWh, including 3.0 GWh of BESS and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage. The company is well-positioned to achieve its target of 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, the release added.
