G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) has emerged L1 bidder for an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme in Madhya Pradesh, potentially making it the fifth win for the Gurugram-headquartered company.

In a stock exchange filing, GRIL said that it has emerged L1 bidder for an ISTS scheme termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from RE projects in Rajgarh (1,500 MW) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh-Phase III & evacuation of power from RE projects in Neemuch (1,000 MW) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh-Phase II.”

GRIL emerged L1 during the e-reverse auction (e-RA) process conducted by bid process coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDL) on August 13, 2025, quoting the winning tariff (transmission charges) of Rs.3670.73 million per year.

As reported by T&D India earlier today, GRIL was in the fray for this project alongside seven other bidders that had qualified for opening of initial price bids. However, the names of bidders that made it to the e-RA stage are not yet available.

The ISTS-TBCB scheme is housed under “Rajgarh Neemuch Transmission Ltd” that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RECPDCL, incorporated on June 17, 2025. This SPV will be formally transferred to GRIL in due course.

With an estimated outlay of Rs.3,472 crore and an implementation period of 24 months, the scheme, involves putting up around 850 ckm of 400kV lines and a new 400/220kV, 2×500 MVA substation at Handiya, along with associated infrastructure. More project details are available in this T&D India story dated June 18, 2025.

Fifth win for GRIL

For GRIL, this is potentially the fifth ISTS-TBCB scheme. GRIL debuted in the space by winning “Rajgarh Transmission Ltd” in May 2022. This scheme was commissioned in March 2024. Subsequently, GRIL was awarded three more ISTS-TBCB schemes, as follows:

  • Pachora Power Transmission Ltd (Madhya Pradesh, February 2024)
  • Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Ltd (Karnataka, September 2024)
  • Bijapur REZ Transmission Ltd (Karnataka, January 2025)

All these three projects are currently under construction. According to estimates made by T&D India, GRIL’s three under-construction projects aim to develop around 450 ckm of transmission lines and 6,000 MVA of substation capacity.
