The Railway Business of KEC International has dominated the company’s new order inflows during the ongoing FY19, up to May 14, 2018. Out of the total order inflow of Rs.1,392 crore during the said period, overhead railway electrification works and associated civil works accounted for Rs.928 crore, or 67 per cent.

The traditional power T&D business secured orders worth Rs.159 crore that included a turnkey order associated with strengthening of transmission systems in Bihar from Bihar Grid Company Ltd (BGCL), and a turnkey order for a 132kV double-circuit overhead transmission line in Bangladesh. Incidentally, BGCL is an equal joint venture between Power Grid Corporation of India, and the Bihar state government represented by Bihar State Power Holding Company Ltd. BGCL was formed in 2013 to develop the intrastate power transmission system in Bihar.

“We are delighted with the new order wins in railways, which helps us in further consolidating our railways order book. We are also happy with the new order wins in civil. With these new order wins, we are confident of the railways and civil business scaling up to be a significant part of KEC’s overall business portfolio,” said Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, KEC International Ltd, in a release.

KEC International also reported Rs.212 crore of orders in the civil business. While the Cables Business landed orders worth Rs.83 crore for different types of cables, the Solar Business clinched orders, valued at Rs.10 crore, for erecting rooftop projects in north India.

Performance in FY18

KEC International witnessed a healthy growth in new order inflow in FY18. As against an order inflow of Rs.12,358 crore in FY17, the comparable level in FY18 was 22 per cent higher, at Rs.15,098 crore.
