Shilchar Technologies to complete capacity expansion by April 2027

Shilchar Technologies expects its newly-announced capacity expansion project to commission by April next year.

In an investor presentation, Shilchar Technologies said that its capacity expansion project of 6,500 MVA would be operational by April 2027.

Depending on the industry demand outlook, further capacity expansion would be undertaken, the company said.

In September 2025, Shilchar announced that it would be expanding capacity at its existing manufacturing facility at Gavasad in Vadodara district, Gujarat by 6,500 MVA with capital expenditure of around Rs.90 crore to be financed through internal accruals.

This would take total annual manufacturing capacity at the Gavasad plant – the company’s only manufacturing facility – from 7,500 MVA to 14,000 MVA.

When the capacity expansion plan was announced Shilchar’s existing 7,500 MVA capacity was being utilized fully, and the capacity enhancement was prompted by growing customer demand.

Shilchar Technologies also said that it had sufficient land parcel to even nearly double the enhanced capacity of 14,000 MVA.

Prior to the new expansion plan, capacity at the Gavasad plant was enhanced on two occasions – by 3,000 MVA in 2018 and by another 3,500 MVA in August 2024 – taking cumulative capacity to 7,500 MVA from the original 1,000 MVA.

The company manufacturers variety of transformers, up to 50 MVA capacity and in the voltage class up to 132kV.  The product range includes power transformers (up to 66kV); hydro transformers (up to 132kV); and distribution transformers, inverter duty (solar) transformers, generator transformers (wind) and furnace transformers (all up to 33kV voltage class).

Order pipeline

Shilchar Technologies said that its order pipeline for current year FY26 was in the range of Rs.750 crore to Rs.800 crore, coupled with a healthy inquiry pipeline from domestic and international clients.

Exports

Shilchar has been catering to the exports market since 2018 and is currently catering to over 25 countries with USA, as one of the key markets.

The company noted the US market has experienced some uncertainty following the tariff policies implemented from August 27, 2025. However, demand trends and customer inquiries remain encouraging as of now, the company said. Shilchar was continuously monitoring the evolving trade environment closely and is engaging with its customers to mitigate any potential impact.

The outlook for other international markets continues to be strong, providing balanced growth opportunities across its export business, the company said.
