Salasar Techno Engineering Ltd has landed a GIS substation order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

In a release, Salasar Techno said that it has secured a contract worth Rs.68.67-crore gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation package, “SS145,” from PGCIL.

The project involves setting up a 110/22kV GIS substation at Lawspet, Puducherry. The project, awarded in December 2025, entails the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the GIS substation, along with all associated civil, structural, and electrical works.

The contract is part of PGCIL’s consultancy services being provided to the Puducherry Electricity Department (PED).

Once operational, the substation is expected to play a critical role in strengthening power distribution efficiency and overall grid resilience, supporting both existing electricity demand and future load growth driven by urbanisation and economic development in the region, the release said.

The project further reinforces Salasar Techno Engineering’s role as a trusted partner in building resilient, future-ready power transmission infrastructure critical to India’s long-term energy security goals and economic growth, the release added.

Continued progress

According to Shashank Agarwal, Managing Director, Salasar Techno Engineering Ltd, “Securing this GIS substation project from POWERGRID reflects Salasar’s continued progress in the high-voltage substation space. Our deep technical expertise, integrated EPC execution model, and strong focus on quality, safety, and timely delivery position us well to deliver reliable and future-ready power assets. We remain committed to supporting India’s power sector transformation through efficient and technologically advanced solutions.”

Recent orders

According to information previously released by the company, Salasar Techno landed a 400kV transmission line project in Uttar Pradesh in December 2025, following a larger Rs.695-crore RDSS-related order in November 2025.

More recently, Salasar, in consortium with K2 Infragen, won a railway electrification mandate from Indian Railway.
