Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and Resonia Ltd, in independent developments, have formally acquired one interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme each, under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework.
The project SPVs were formally acquired from bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) on May 29, 2026.
PGCIL
PGCIL acquired “Tumkur II RE Transmission Ltd,” that was incorporated as a project SPV to develop an ISTS scheme termed as “Transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II for integration of additional RE potential (1.5 GW).”
As reported by tndindia.com on April 2, 2026, PGCIL had received the letter of intent for this scheme after it emerged as the winning developer, getting the better of four other contenders – Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, Resonia Ltd, Dilip Buildcon and G R Infraprojects Ltd.
The Tumkur II RE project involves augmentation of the upcoming Tumkur-II Pooling Station (PS) in Karnataka by the addition of six 400/220kV, 1×500 MVA interconnecting transformers to the upcoming Tumkur-II Pooling Station (PS) in Karnataka. This scheme will also connect Tumkur-II PS to Madhugiri substation through a 400kV double-circuit (quad) line running around 100 km. With an estimated outlay of Rs.1,051 crore, the project has an implementation timeframe of 24 months.
The Tumkur-II PS (4×500 MVA, 400/220kV) is coming up through “Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Ltd,” a TBCB subsidiary of G R Infraprojects.
Resonia
Resonia acquired “Kurnool IV REZ Power Transmission Ltd,” that will be developing an ISTS scheme called “Transmission system for Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase II (3 GW)”.
Resonia (formerly Sterlite Grid32 Ltd) was in the race for this ISTS-TBCB scheme alongside PGCIL, Adani Energy Solutions, HG Infra Engineering and EnerGrid.
A large scheme with an outlay of Rs.3,235 crore and implementation timeframe of 30 months, the scheme entails mainly the augmentation of Kurnool-IV Pooling Station in Andhra Pradesh and building the new 4×1500 MVA, 765/400kV Shadnagar substation in Telangana. The Kurnool-IV PS is being developed by PGCIL through its TBCB subsidiary “Powergrid Kurnool-IV Transmission Ltd” as part of an ISTS scheme “Transmission system for integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase-I (for 4.5 GW).”
Cumulative FY27 scorecard
Prior to the two schemes discussed above, only one ISTS-TBCB scheme has been formally transferred to its winning developer so far in FY27. This project SPV “NERGS III Siang Basin Transmission Ltd” was acquired on May 26, 2026 by Dineshchandra R.
