Laser Power & Infra secures its first commercial order for AECC conductors

Laser Power & Infra Ltd, in a release, said that it has received its first commercial order for HTLS conductors under its agreement with US-based TS Conductor Corp.

Laser Power & Infra Ltd has received a letter of intent (Lol) from Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board for the supply and installation of high temperature low sag (HTLS) conductors under a turnkey reconductoring project aimed at improving power supply reliability in the Nalagarh Electrical Division, Himachal Pradesh.

The project entails replacing conventional conductors with advanced HTLS conductors that significantly enhance transmission capacity while utilizing the existing tower infrastructure. By enabling utilities to carry substantially higher current without requiring additional right-of-way or tower replacement, reconductoring offers a faster, more costeffective and sustainable approach to strengthening the power transmission network.

The order, valued at approximately Rs.4.15 crore, represents Laser’s first commercial deployment of advanced conductor technology under its manufacturing agreement with TS Conductor Corp., USA, executed in March 2025. The project will utilize Aluminium Encapsulated Carbon Core Conductors (AECC) manufactured by Laser in India using TS Conductor’s proprietary pre-tensioned carbon fibre composite core technology.

This possibly represents India’s first commercial project involving TS Conductor’s proprietary AECC technology, with the conductors being manufactured domestically by Laser for project execution. The milestone underscores the successful commercialization of Laser’s technology partnership with TS Conductor and represents an important step towards localizing next-generation transmission conductor technology for India’s rapidly evolving power grid, the release said.

Successful commercialization of technology partnership

According to Deepak Goel, Chairman & Managing Director, Laser Power & Infra Ltd, “This order marks the successful commercialization of our technology partnership with TS Conductor and validates our strategy of bringing globally proven advanced conductor solutions to India’s power sector. HPSEBL’s decision to adopt AECC technology reflects the growing need for solutions that can increase transmission capacity, improve grid efficiency and reduce line losses without expanding existing transmission corridors. As utilities increasingly focus on upgrading existing networks to meet rising electricity demand, we believe reconductoring will become a key pillar of India’s grid modernization programme. This project is an important milestone in positioning Laser as a leading domestic provider of next-generation transmission conductor solutions.”

Efficient alternative

AECC conductors are engineered to deliver 2-3 times the power carrying capacity of conventional ACSR conductors while significantly reducing line losses and maintaining minimal thermal sag under high operating temperatures. Their compatibility with existing transmission infrastructure makes them particularly well suited for reconductoring projects, enabling utilities to modernize ageing transmission corridors without extensive civil infrastructure upgrades.
