To support economic growth in Jamalpur’s industrial region, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) recently completed another ACCC® Conductor installation.

According to information released by CTC Global Corporation, the owners of ACCC® Conductor technology, using existing lattice structures, PGCB installed over 330 km of ACCC® Conductor on its 132kV double-circuit Mymensingh-Jamalpur transmission line.

EPC support was provided by Power China Fujian Engineering Co. Ltd. PGCB selected Grosbeak size ACCC® Conductor manufactured by India-based Apar Industries Ltd. ACCC® Hardware was provided by Dervaux (SICAME Group).

The use of ACCC® Conductor increased the capacity of the existing line by approximately two times. Jamalpur is a market and export center for local rice, sugarcane, jute, tobacco and mustard located on the bank of the river Brahmaputra, 140 km north of Dhaka, the nation’s capital city, CTC Global said.

Growing ACCC® deployment in Bangladesh

To upgrade and expand their transmission network, PGCB has been extensively deploying the high-capacity, energy-efficient and highly-proven ACCC® Conductor technology. While around 40 ACCC® Conductor installations have been, or are in the process of being completed in Bangladesh, more than 1,000 ACCC® Projects have been completed, worldwide

Another good example of the successful use of the ACCC® Conductor in Bangladesh is the 160-ckm Patuakhali (Payra) to Gopalganj 400kV transmission line. This new transmission line delivers power from Payra Power plant to the new 132/400kV Gopalganj substation, a major power hub.

According to Yeakub Elahi Chowdhury, Executive Director (Projects + Development) PGCB, “The (Payra to Gopalganj) is quite important but represents only a fraction of the projects completed by PGCB using ACCC® Conductor. For example, one of the featured uses of the ACCC® Conductor is the transmission of power from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. We are using this advanced conductor on our most critical projects in Bangladesh.”
