Adani Transmission Step-Two Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS) of Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL), has in turn incorporated a new WOS in the name of Adani Transmission Mahan Ltd.

According to a stock exchange filing by Adani Transmission, the new company was incorporated on September 5, 2022, to carry on the business of transmission, distribution and supply of power and other infrastructure services relating thereto. ATML will commence its business operations in due course, the filing said.

Although no further details were provided in the filing, it strongly appears that ATML has been incorporated to house the operations of the 400kV Mahan-Sipat transmission line, which is under acquisition by the Adani Group.

It may be recalled that in early June 2022, Essar Power Ltd announced that it entered into a definitive agreement with Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) to sell the 400kV Mahan-Sipat power transmission line for Rs.1,913 crore.

The said transmission line, spanning 337 km, runs from Essar Power’s 1,200-mw Mahan power plant in Madhya Pradesh to the Sipat Pooling Station at Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. Commissioned in September 2018, the Mahan-Sipat line is an integral part of Essar Power’s transmission portfolio of 465 km.

The Mahan-Sipat line is part of the interstate transmission scheme (ISTS) and facilitates evacuation from Essar Power’s 1,200 mw Mahan power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

It may also be mentioned that Adani Transmission Step-Two Ltd was incorporated in Gujarat on August 2, 2022, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Transmission Ltd.
