Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) has newly incorporated a subsidiary for undertaking smart metering business.
In a recent stock exchange filing, ATL said that it has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary named “BEST Smart Metering Ltd” on December 27, 2022.
The new subsidiary will be engaged in the smart metering business, and has yet to commence business activities, the filing said.
Though the filing did not give further details, it is likely that BEST Smart Metering Ltd (BSML) will undertake the advance metering infrastructure (AMI) mandate that ATL has received from BEST Undertaking, a power distribution utility in Mumbai.
It may be recalled that in October 2022, Adani Transmission Ltd said that it has emerged as the successful bidder in the BEST Undertaking’s tender for appointment of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) service provider.
As a part of the mandate, 10.80 lakh smart meters and related Communication & Cloud infrastructure will be installed over a period of 30 months and maintained for the following 90 months. This project will be developed on Design-Build-Finance-Own-Operate-Transfer (DBFOOT) basis.

The project shall cover end-to-end smart metering for distribution infrastructure and end consumers of BEST Undertaking, enabling complete energy accounting with zero manual intervention.
