Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), in a presentation, said that it received new orders worth Rs.23,693 crore in the fourth quarter (Q4: January 1 to March 31) of FY22.
There was a clear dominance of power sector-related orders. Of the total order inflow, the power sector accounted for a share of 75.7 per cent (or Rs.17,931 crore) followed by the industry sector with 23.9 per cent (Rs.10,473 crore). The remaining Rs.102 crore (or 0.43 per cent) was accounted for by exports.
According to a compilation made by T&D India, BHEL’s order inflow in Q4 of FY22 was 22 per cent higher than in the immediately preceding quarter (Q3: October 1 to December 31) of FY22.
As of March 31, 2022, BHEL outstanding order book position stood at Rs.1,02,542 crore. Of this, the power sector accounted for 84 per cent, followed by industry with 11 per cent and exports with 5 per cent.

Major orders
In Q4 of FY22, BHEL received a large number of orders in the hydropower sector including renovation and modernization mandates from Damodar Valley Corporation and NHPC. During FY22 as a whole, it may be recalled that Nuclear Power Corporation of India placed on BHEL a massive order of EPC of the turbine-generator package associated with six units of 700mw pressurized heavy water reactors.
Project execution
During FY22, BHEL was involved with the commissioning of 4,119 mw of power generation capacity, including conventional and renewable energy. Besides, BHEL commissioned 1,460 mw of steam generators (boilers) for various thermal power projects.
BHEL, in FY22, successfully commissioned the Raigarh-Pugalur HVDC link, which also saw the involvement of other suppliers and contractors.
BHEL said that during FY22, BHEL commissioned its first flue-gas desulphurization (FGD) project for NTPC at the Dadri thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
