Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has announced the receipt of letter of intent relating to a mega Rs.11,800-crore order from a state power generation utility in Chhattisgarh.

In a stock exchange filing, BHEL said that on March 27, 2025, it received a letter of intent from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd (CSPGCL) to build new capacity at the Hasdeo thermal power station, on EPC basis.

The order is valued at Rs.11,800 crore (excluding taxes) and was won in a domestic competitive bidding process.

The mandate is for the EPC package of the 2×660-MW supercritical thermal power plant at Hasdeo Thermal power station located at Korba West in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

The order entails supply of supercritical main plant BTG (boiler, turbine and generator) package and associated auxiliaries along with electrical, control & instrumentation and balance of plant (BoP) packages. The mandate covers erection and commissioning works of the power plant, including civil works.

The order is scheduled for completion in 60 months, the BHEL filing said.

According to information available, the Hasdeo thermal power currently has a total installed capacity of 1340 MW coming from four units of 210 MW and one of 500 MW.
