Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has announced the winning of a major order valued at over Rs.6,500 crore from Adani Power Ltd.

In a brief stock exchange communication, the Central PSU engineering firm said that Adani Power Ltd has issued the letter of award for supply of power generation equipment (steam turbine generator along with auxiliaries) along with supervision of erection & commissioning of six thermal units of 800 MW each.

The order is valued at over Rs.6,500 crore, excluding GST, the BHEL filing said without giving further details.

While BHEL has not disclosed which project the order pertains to, it is likely that the order for six 800-MW supercritical thermal units will be spread across different upcoming projects of Adani Power.

According to information available on its official website, Adani Power is putting up 800-MW supercritical coal-fired units at several upcoming projects across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. These include:

  • Singrauli Phase-II, Madhya Pradesh
  • Singrauli Phase-III, Madhya Pradesh
  • Kawai Phase-II, Rajasthan
  • Korba Phase-III, Chhattisgarh
  • Raipur Phase-II, Chhattisgarh
  • Raigarh Phase-II, Chhattisgarh
  • Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh

In each of the above cases, the project size will be 2×800-MW.
