CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd (CG) has received a major transformer supply order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), making it CG’s highest-value single order.
In a release, CG said that it has been awarded 765kV Transformer Package 7TR-12-Bulk for procurement of 765/400 KV 1-ph Transformers under Corporate Package for procurement of 765kV and 400kV class transformers and reactors of various capacities with revised Methodology Lot-4 by PGCIL.
The total value of supply of goods including services is around Rs.641 crore ($74 million). The supply of goods is expected to be completed over a period of 18 to 36 months.
This is the highest single order received by CG, the release said.
With a legacy spanning over 88 years, CG has established a strong foothold in the Transformer Business and is among one of the top manufacturers in the world, and one of the very few companies worldwide that designs, manufactures and supplies a wide range of both Power and Distribution transformers and Reactors for all critical applications.
CG offers power transformers in the range of 25 kVA to 1500 MVA, and 11kV to 765kV class, and reactors in the range of 10 MVAr to 125 MVAr, and 33kV to 765kV class. These products conform to IEC, ANSI, IS, BS and other international standards and are globally used in industries such as power utilities, process industries, railways, mines, electricity boards, industrial users, and more, the release noted.
According to information previously released, CG is expected to complete its transformer manufacturing capacity expansion by FY28, taking the overall capacity of power transformers by 45,000 MVA per year to 85,000 MVA per year. This plan, with an estimated outlay of Rs.712 crore (net of taxes), was approved during FY25. Another project to expand the distribution transformer manufacturing capacity at the company’s Bhopal plant in Madhya Pradesh is expected to commission soon. This would take capacity from the current 6,900 MVA to 9,900 MVA.
