ERDA, Vadodara has been recently accorded with the Certificate of Designation as Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) by Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC). With this accreditation, ERDA has opened its doors to telecom manufacturers for TEC-accredited testing of telecom equipment.

ERDA’s in-house TEC accredited EMI/EMC testing facility is equipped with 10m anechoic chamber. Under this approval, ERDA is authorized to conduct varied testing on all telecom equipment under three broad categories:

  1. EMI/EMC Testing for Telecom Equipment
  2. Environment testing of Telecom Equipment
  3. Information Technology Equipment- Safety Measures

Along with certification of CAB, ERDA is accredited by NABL and approved by BIS, BEE & PESO. Moreover, ERDA is also approved by Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) for EMI/EMC Testing.

ERDA feels pride in contributing to the combined efforts of the Indian Government and the Telecom Manufacturers towards a high yielding future of Indian Telecom Industry.

 PLI Scheme for Telecom

The Union Cabinet approved a Rs.12,195-crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for ‘Make In India’ manufacturing of telecom and networking products.

This scheme aims at supporting companies engaged in manufacturing of specified telecom and networking products in India such as switches, routers, radio access network, wireless equipment and other internet of things (IoT) access devices.

The implementation of these incentives is expected to offset huge imports of telecom equipment worth more than Rs.50,000 crore and reinforce it with Made in India products both for domestic markets and exports. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated, “In the coming five years, we hope to have incremental production of Rs.2.44 lakh crore and export worth Rs.1.95 lakh crore.”

With this incentives scheme, the government expects to reduce imports, boost domestic production, increase employment and export competitiveness.
