Gadag Transmission to secure interstate licence

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), in a recent order, has given in principal approval to Gadag Transmission Ltd for grant of inter-state transmission licence subject to customary conditions.

Gadag Transmission Ltd, the transmission service provider, has been asked to file a public notice to invite public suggestions and objections. These objections/suggestions have to be filed before CERC by June 20, 2022.

Gadag Transmission Ltd will also have to file an affidavit by June 15, 2022, to the effect that the execution of the project shall not be delayed due to time taken in obtaining statutory clearances required. By the same date, transmission service provider will also to submit information regarding quality control mechanism for project implementation, in compliance with terms in the transmission service agreement (TSA).

Gadag Transmission Ltd was selected as the developer under the tariff based competitive bidding mechanism to implement the transmission project officially known as “Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Gadag (2500 MW), Karnataka -Part A ,” on build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis.

The key project elements of the transmission scheme include:

  • 400/220kV, 2×500 MVA Gadag Pooling Station with 400kV (1×125 MVAR) bus reactor
  • Gadag PS – Narendra (New) PS 400kV double-circuit line
  • 400 kV GIS line bays at Narendra (new) for Gadag PS-Narendra (New) PS 400kV double-circuit line

Basic project parameters
  • Bid process coordinator: REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd
  • Initiation of bidding process: September 9, 2021
  • Selected developer: ReNew Power Transmission Ventures Pvt Ltd
  • Winning tariff: Rs.29.70 crore per year
  • Contenders in final race (after e-reverse auction): GR Infraprojects (L2), Adani Transmission (L3) and Torrent Power (l4)
  • Letter of intent issued to winning developer: January 27, 2022
  • Acquisition of project SPV (Gadag Transmission Ltd) by developer: March 17, 2022
  • Long term transmission customers (LTTC): ReNew Solar Power Pvt Ltd and Vena Energy Vidhyut Pvt Ltd
  • Effective date of Transmission Service Agreement (TSA): March 17, 2022
  • Envisaged project completion date: September 17, 2023 [18 months from project SPV acquisition]

 

Second project for ReNew

According to information available with T&D India, this is the second interstate transmission scheme for ReNew Power Transmission, under the TBCB modality. The first project clinched was the Koppal-Narendra transmission scheme, in December 2021
