GE T&D India’s order intake in FY21 was adversely affected due to pandemic-induced market conditions but sales were up 9 per cent year-on-year.

According to a recent investor presentation, GE T&D India saw its new order inflow declining by 24 per cent in FY21. The company booked orders worth Rs.2290.40 crore in FY21, as against Rs.3017.50 crore in FY20. The year-on-year decline in order inflow was more pronounced in the second half of FY21. (See table)

As of March 31, 2021, the company’s outstanding order book stood at Rs.4,600 crore, representing 1.5 years of revenue.

Key orders booked in Q4 of FY21, included:

  • 13 x 110 MVAR and 6×80 MVAR 765kV reactors at Sikar-II and Bhadla-II from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).
  • 7 x 500 MVA 765kV ICTS at Sikar-II transformer package from PGCIL
  • 13 x 765kV reactors at Sikar-II and Aligarh Pooling Station under Rajasthan Reactor Package, from PGCIL
  • GIS substations (of 220kV and 145kV ratings) for deployment in Nepal, from Larsen & Toubro

Update on plants and sites

GE T&D India, in the presentation said that all its manufacturing sites have started operations. Following the second COVID-19 wave, all the three manufacturing plants in Tamil Nadu – Padappai, Pallavaram and Hosur – were shut down for nine days. The company’s transformer plant at Vadodara in Gujarat was not subject to lockdown during the second pandemic wave. The company also said that all its 73 project sites were operational, albeit with 50-75 per cent resource strength.
