Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd announced that its Power Infrastructure & Renewable Energy (PIRE) business has secured orders worth over Rs.550 crore in the power transmission segment.

The orders, all from the domestic market, involve greenfield development of 400kV AIS substations, 220kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substations, 220kV transmission lines and 220kV underground cabling works.

Commenting on the development, Raghavendra Mirji, Senior Vice President & Head – Power Infrastructure & Renewable Energy (PIRE), Godrej Electricals & Electronics, said, “We are enthused to have secured new orders amidst the challenging times. The current orders further strengthen our presence in the domestic T&D market. With these orders, G&B has expanded its portfolio in EHV substation and transmission line projects across India.”

In an exclusive interview with T&D India in August 2011, Raghavendra Mirji had said that Godrej & Boyce will continue to expand its business in the transmission segment, especially focusing on EHV substation projects up to 765kV — both in AIS and GIS. (Read full interview)
