Grew Energy joins forces with IIT-B to further R&D in PV technology

Grew Energy Pvt Ltd, a solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing company, has announced a strategic partnership with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay), with a view to advancing innovation and excellence in photovoltaic technology.

The partnership’s key focus would be on solar cell and module manufacturing, performance characterization, and reliability assessments, a release by Grew Energy said.

The MoU signed between IIT Bombay and Grew Energy sets the stage for a dynamic collaboration to drive technological advancements in the photovoltaic sector through joint initiatives in knowledge management, continuing education programs, and technology development.

Key aspects of this collaboration include joint consultancy and research projects that address critical industry challenges and foster innovation. The collaboration will also support internships, intellectual property licensing, and research initiatives. A collaborative ecosystem will be established, focusing on essential areas such as manufacturing, performance evaluation, reliability testing, and workforce training, all geared towards strengthening India’s renewable energy landscape.

Vinay Thadani, Director & CEO of Grew Energy, said, “This collaboration with IIT Bombay underscores our commitment to innovation and leadership in the solar energy sector. According to Prof Upendra Bhandarkar, Associate Dean R&D,IIT Bombay, “Collaborating with Grew Energy will foster us to translate our research into real-world applications, advancing India’s renewable energy goals. This partnership reflects our shared vision of harnessing technology to create sustainable energy solutions for the future.”

Prof. Anil Kottantharayil, Professor In-Charge, Photovoltaic Technology and Innovation Centre (PoTIC), IIT Bombay, said, “Our engagement with Grew Energy demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the technological competitiveness of the PV manufacturing sector in the country.”

The strategic collaboration reinforces Grew Energy’s commitment to aligning with India’s renewable energy goals with a competitive edge in this rapidly evolving industry, the release added.
