The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), organized the 17th edition of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Conclave themed “Accelerating the Energy Transition – Role of T&D”, on July 25, 2025, in New Delhi.

Speaking at the conclave, Chief Guest, Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairman, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), highlighted the evolving energy landscape and the critical role of the transmission and distribution sector.

“Energy transition is happening at a fast pace, and our requirements need to match this pace. We have currently reached 243 GW, and we are on our way to achieving 500 GW as per plan. We should not stop here but go far beyond. In line, we have also increased our coal-based capacities as well. A huge traction is likely to come from nuclear systems and hydro & pumped Hydro which was 4.7 GW earlier and now 6.5 GW, but what we are targeting is much bigger. All these needs a lot of investments which increases pressure and opens opportunities on the transmission & distribution sector”

Sunil Singhvi, President, IEEMA, highlighted the sector’s strong performance, stating, “With a 10 per cent growth rate, the electrical industry is moving ahead rapidly. T&D Conclave has evolved from just a collaborative platform to one that enables industry-to discuss concerns, networking, and problem-solving.” He emphasized the need for backward integration to compete globally and emphasized that “quality and reliability is core to IEEMA’s values and the same will be key to achieving our goals in this energy transition era.”

First envisioned in 2017, this conclave has grown into a dynamic platform of thought leadership, advocacy, and collaboration for the entire T&D ecosystem. Engaging panel discussions and insightful plenary sessions brought valuable takeaways from industry experts, adding depth and energy to the event.

Vikram Gandotra, President Elect, IEEMA; Charu Mathur, Director General, IEEMA; D. K. Singh, Chairman, IEEMA – T&D Projects Division; Rajinder Gupta Vice Chairman, IEEMA – T&D Projects Division were the other key speakers of the conclave.
