IntelliSmart Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, in a statement, said that it has so far built a portfolio of smart metering projects with an aggregate value of close to Rs.20,000 crore.

IntelliSmart’s recent wins include one project each in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Bihar, and two in Gujarat, the statement said, adding that it will implement all the projects under the TOTEX (CAPEX + OPEX) model, as per guidelines issued under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The mandates

In Uttar Pradesh, IntelliSmart has been awarded the largest smart metering project in the country by volume under RDSS. As part of the project, IntelliSmart will install 67 lakh smart meters in 14 districts falling under the jurisdiction of Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd.

In Gujarat, IntelliSmart has secured the letter of award for implementation of end-to-end smart metering solutions from Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) and Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL) for a total of 51 lakh prepaid smart meters.

In Assam, the company will install 15 lakh smart meters, under a mandate secured through competitive bidding, for Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. Assam is also a success story for IntelliSmart where it had earlier secured India’s first competitively bid smart metering project under DBFOOT arrangement for over 6 lakh smart meters and have already achieved more than 60 per cent meter installation in record time.

In Bihar, IntelliSmart has won a project to install 36 lakh smart meters for South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd.

Leading from the front

Reflecting on the project acquisitions, Anil Rawal, MD & CEO, IntelliSmart said, “From the time smart metering was conceived as an aspirational and ambitious digitalisation programme for the distribution sector, IntelliSmart has been leading from the front, working with all the stakeholders to create a viable and bankable model for rolling out this systemic efficiency programme and have been fortunate to be part of this unprecedented success story. This is one of the leading most power sector digitalisation programmes across the globe and shall go a long way not only to improve the financial and operational health of the distribution companies but would also be critical for success of large-scale renewables and e-mobility in the grid. These large projects once again reiterate the confidence of government in the capabilities of IntelliSmart in pioneering digitalisation in the power sector and becoming the most preferred digital partner for the utilities. The successful implementation of our smart metering projects, shall certainly support the country in realising the Net Zero commitments and shall also support the energy transition endeavour.”
