ISGEC Heavy Engineering has secured an order to supply two waste-to-energy boilers from Switzerland-based company Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (HZI).

In a media release, ISGEC said that the order was to supply two waste-to-energy boilers, with a capacity of 660 tonnes per day (tpd) each, to HZI. The scope of the supply covers detailed engineering and supply of pressure and non-pressure parts. The order was won by the Boiler Manufacturing & Piping Division of ISGEC Heavy Engineering.

The boilers will be deployed at the Slough Multifeed Project in Slough, Berkshire, United Kingdom, for which HZI is the EPC contractor.

Second HZI Order

This order is the second such for ISGEC from Hitachi Zosen Inova. In a brief interaction with T&D India, a highly-placed official from ISGEC’s Boiler Manufacturing & Piping Division, said that the first order was for one waste-to-energy boiler of capacity 900 tpd with similar scope. This boiler was meant for deployment for one of HZI’s project in Rockingham, Australia. This order was secured in March/April 2020, the official said.

Slough Multi-feed Project

According to information independently sourced by T&D India, the Slough Multi-feed Project is a 46-mw waste-to-energy plant promoted by a joint venture consisting of SSE Thermal and Copenhagen Infrastructure III K/S, a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The plant will process around 440 000 tonnes of per annum of waste, and is expected to become fully operational in 2024. Waste-to-energy plants are also referred to as EfW (Energy from Waste) plants.
