Linxon has won an order from Samsung C&T in Saudi Arabia to engineer, procure and construct a 380kV substation project to connect Tanajib cogeneration and desalination project to the Saudi electricity grid.

Located in Tanajib in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, the new 380 kV GIS substation will feed the plant that is supplying electricity, steam, and desalinated water to the new oil and gas facilities in the area owned by Aramco.

The Linxon supply consists of an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for the 380kV GIS substation with all necessary protection and control systems. Linxon will be executing this on a turnkey basis including associated construction activities, equipment installation and commissioning.

Substations enable the efficient and reliable transmission and distribution of electricity. Within the substation, switchgear controls and protects the network from power outages and facilitates reliable electricity supply.

Substation expertise

“We are honoured to have been selected by Samsung C&T as their partner of choice for this strategic project for Aramco”, said Stefan Reisacher, CEO of Linxon. “We will be contributing with our expertise in advanced substation technology and support building a sustainable future”.

The project

The cogeneration and seawater desalination plant will have a net capacity of approximately 940 mw of electricity generation, a steam output of approximately 1,084 tonnes per hour, and a desalinated water output of approximately 19,470 cubic meters per day.
