Madhya Pradesh signs TSA with Megha Engineering for TBCB project

Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) has signed a transmission service agreement (TSA) with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) to develop an intrastate power transmission scheme.

MEIL won the project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism for which REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) was the bid process coordinator.

As already reported by T&D India, RECPDCL has transferred the project special purpose vehicle “MP Power Transmission Package-I Ltd” to MEIL, the successful developer. The project will developed on BOOM basis for a period of 35 years.

According to a release issued by Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL), the relevant documents were handed over to Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd by Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company in the presence of Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chief Engineer, MPPTCL.

 

59 rounds of bidding

MEIL won the tender after as many as 59 rounds of bidding under the e-reverse auction process. Adani Transmission, Power Grid Corporation of India, Tata Power and Techno Electric & Engineering Company were involved in the final round tender process, MPPTCL said in the release.

 

Scope of works

The intrastate power transmission development works envisaged under “MP Power Transmission Package-I Ltd” includes the construction of 17 EHV substations that include one 400kV substation, three of the 220kV class and 13 numbers of 132kV substations. Geographically, these 17 substations include ten in central Madhya Pradesh and seven in the western part. The substations will comprise of both GIS and AIS variants.

 

The sole 400kV substation, which will be of the GIS type, will be built in Bhopal. This, incidentally, will be the first 400kV GIS substation in Madhya Pradesh.

 

Overall the proposed substations will be spread over the districts of Hoshangabad, Betul, Rajgarh, Harda, Raisen, Sehore, Ashok Nagar, Dhar. Ujjain, Khargone, Ratlam, Dewas and Alirajpur.
